Facing your fears head on is exhilarating and absolutely terrifying. When we reached Crawlers Ledge on the Kalalau Trail, I didn’t even realize that it was the ledge. I’d heard stories of how steep it is and looking at this video it’s crazy to think that I was so concentrated I didn’t even notice where I was 😂 On the way there the weather was beyond perfect (as seen in this video). As we hiked back to our camp in the afternoon, the weather started to turn drastically for the worse. We were hiking straight into 20 mph winds and a slight drizzle. I was setting pace and spent the majority of the time thinking about how I was going to face the ledge without giving up. When we reached crawlers ledge, the rocks were insanely slippery and the wind was right in our faces. Honestly, I felt like throwing up. I gritted my teeth, got down on my hands, and crawled my way to the other side. I tell you this because it was not easy. I am constantly searching for ways to face my fear of heights. This was probably one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. If there’s something in your life your desperately wanting to do but fear is stopping you, let go and jump.

Coast to Coast - Day 2 🏔️ How do you like to end a hiking day?! … for me, it’s like this!!! 😍 After our big push yesterday we had already told ourselves we were in for an easy one on this stretch.. which is obviously never a good idea! We took a wrong path, which sent us up hill & back down many times.. we added miles, elevation and time on the trail that we hadn’t planned for. At 8.5 mile we were ready to finish, because that’s what we had in our heads but it was another 2 mile until we got into Grasmere. Not the biggest day in the hills but a lot of ascent and unplanned miles made it trickier than expected. 🥾 On a long distance trail getting into a place like Grasmere feels amazing.. you can eat real food, top up with supplies and feel human again (although this early on we were still feeling pretty normal, not fully feral yet 🧌) 📌 Save & follow this series if you’re planning on doing the Coast to Coast for all the tips 📌 📍 Seatoller - Grasmere 🥾 10.5 miles / 39.5/196 miles total hiked 🏔️ Difficulty - Moderate . . . . . Coast to Coast - Day 3 🏔️ What a day 😍 We woke up in Grasmere expecting this to be a hard day on the trail.. we were ready for the big climbs.. and maybe that’s what made it feel easier. The first climb upto Grisedale Tarn felt nice.. how?! I’m not sure, it’s steep.. it was hot! But it felt kinda easy.. madness really after our lesser hills yesterday felt really hard! Probably because we were ready.. proving it probs is all in the mind 🧠 The hike down to Patterdale was also pretty steady, we nipped into the hotel for snacks before our next big climb of the day… and it was the views made that one easy! … what a place! And possibly my favourite view in the Lake District (or one of) 🏔️ We took the high route at this point, taking in high and low raise and it proved to be the best decision because just look at that camp spot! Our first wild camp of the trail & it was perfect! (Minus a few ticks 🕷️ - but we outed them) 📍 Grasmere to Haweswater 🥾 Distance - 17.5 miles 🦵🏼 Difficulty - Moderate 🚶‍♀️ Total Distance - 57/196 miles 📌 Save & follow this series if you’re planning on doing the Coast to Coast for all the tips 📌 . . . . .
