A little insight into how I make my blanket coats! I sew them a couple of different ways depending on the thickness of the blanket but this way is probably the most straight forward. You can find so many great patterns online or make your own by tracing a jacket you already own :) Pro tip: if you don’t want to have to pattern match you can cut your front and back pieces as one continuous piece! This also makes it more of a men’s fit. And if you don’t own a serger you can finish all your seams with binding! Disclaimer: I make my own patterns and do not have any for sale (yet!). Learning how to digitize sewing patterns for sale is a whole new skill set to learn and not something I can just whip up in a week so please be patient with me while I teach myself! The quilt coat is complete and the “ghost lines” from the frixon pen are gone! The coat pattern is the chore coat by @patchworkandpoodles and I used my improv rosette technique on the back and pockets! I absolutely LOVE how it turned out and I LOVED the chore coat pattern! Stunning!!! I used an ink remover called Amodex ona. Toothbrush to scrub all the lines on the fabric that the frixon pen left. They have all disappeared! Yay! I used @hobbsbatting silk batting! Light weight and cozy! I LOVE it! How the Hell Do I Style This, Episode One: a French blue chore coat. Vetra's chore coat, in Hydrone, is a classic "bleu de travail." It's made in a hard-wearing cotton sateen moleskin. It has a rich history of use in workwear. But it's a *bright* shade of blue. Most blues are neutrals. This one is not. So I should pair this with workwear (my true workwear selection is pretty limited, but I have pieces that are close enough for now)... but what do I do about that color? My first thought was to put together a tonal outfit. Multiple shades of blue could come together nicely. And I think they did. Check it out.
