Using the @ddiin_design tool to build the hexagons for my tessellations. This tool lets you mark a central point and, from there, place a point at each vertex of the shape. Then, using a ruler, you extend the lines to create a hexagon in whatever size you need. It’s ideal if you’re used to cutting hexagons by markings rather than folds: with a single template, you get endless hexagon sizes. Just found another fun limitation of @amandaghassaei origami simulator. Here’s the story! I was traveling and designed this fantastic looking curve(see simulated version). Looks fabulous, right? I was soooo excited to fold it and… imagine my surprise when this wonderful pronounced spiral in the middle turned to an almost absolute flat! 😳 okay-okay, I adjusted it… (first video is already adjusted 😣). Still flat! i adjusted it again and again! But it just keeps teasing me 🤦🏻‍♀️ This is actually pretty rare for origami simulator to show things that don’t exist, usually it’s pretty accurate. #origami #tessellation #curvedfolding #curvedtessellation #livetessellation #lukashevatessellation

I have long admired the tesselations of @martaharveyart and I really enjoyed her lesson in the #carvedecemberclass. This tessellation started with the fish idea and I tried to find a shape that fit (as opposed to starting with the shape and then coming up with a picture to fit). It’s not perfect but I kinda love it. I’ll definitely have a bit more of a play. Did you try to tessellate today?
