You get two huge, beautiful parks, easy freeway access, and city life without feeling boxed in. It can feel rustic in parts, except you’re close to everything. 2️⃣ A serious food problem. Not a bad one. A “how am I supposed to choose?” one. Food trucks, the farmers market, old favorites, new spots, and places that feel like they’re about to blow up. One night it’s something easy and perfect, the next it’s Quarter Sheets, A’Tí, or somewhere you’ve been meaning to try. 3️⃣ Realizing this place is not for everyone. If you want sterile or homogeneous life, Echo Park is not for you. If you don’t like weird, or don’t like gay, go away. Echo Park is inclusive. People care about each other here. We organize to protect our residents from ICE. 4️⃣ Accidentally becoming one of those people. The kind who does Pilates and wanders into Stories. 5️⃣ Dodger Stadium becoming part of your life. You hear the roar of the crowd before you see it on TV, or catch the fireworks in the sky. 6️⃣ Wildlife becoming part of your normal life. You get used to hearing coyotes in a frenzy, hearing the green parrots take over in swarms, or getting visited by an owl. 7️⃣ Not wanting to leave the Eastside. You might become one of those people who doesn’t want to cross Vermont. Who feels like Echo Park has everything you need. Yeah… don’t say I didn’t warn you. We made a flyover video to show you exactly where the trail would sit across neighborhoods, and we hit on a few points about the proposed trail's distinct advantages compared to other similar projects: 🧭 Advantage 1: The north/south orientation means fewer road crossings and lower construction costs. The Crosstown Trail would only have about 3 road crossings per mile, compared to 14 or more road crossings per mile on a similar east/west project in Chicago. 📐 Advantage 2: The existing elevated berm makes trail access and construction easier because you can just cut a ramp into the existing landscape versus needing to build a new ramp entirely. 👟 Advantage 3: At 100 feet wide, the Crosstown would be significantly wider than similar trails (for context, the Bloomingdale Trail is about 30 feet wide in most areas).
