These last two weeks I’ve continued to have more lows, but overall these two weeks have been the easiest (diabetes wise) since the beginning of my pregnancy! I made one adjustment to my insulin to carb ratio because for a couple days, 9% of my blood sugars were low. 😳 I increased it by 0.5, which pretty much got rid of almost all of my lows. I think my lows went from 9% to 2%. During my appointment with my endo yesterday I asked her if it’s okay that I’m eating so many carbs because it’s all my body wants. 😂 At the beginning of the pregnancy I tried to slightly limit carbs (which I learned isn’t really advised). But it lasted about a week before my body wanted ALL the carbs. My doctor said it’s totally fine as long as my blood sugars can handle it and I’m staying active as well. It’s funny, because I always thought if I really limited carbs that my blood sugars would be SO good, but I’m currently consuming more carbs than I ever have and my blood sugars and A1C are by far the best they’ve ever been. Guess it just takes some extra work & determination. 😂 That being said, I’m just about to the point where my insulin sensitivity is going to rapidly decrease. I’m definitely nervous about it, but up to this point I’ve been able to find which foods work well and which foods don’t. I also have a pretty great support system too. ☺️ I plan to update you guys after every appointment (every week or two) since I’ve been pleasantly surprised how many people are thinking about pregnancy or are currently also pregnant with t1d. Não, diabetes gestacional (DMG) na encerra no parto! Na diabetes gestacional, o feto não herda apenas risco genético, ele é metabolicamente programado por um ambiente intrauterino hiperglicêmico, inflamatório e hormonalmente alterado para toda sua vida. O bebê cuja mãe teve DMG precisa de um seguimento minucioso durante diversas fases da sua vida, priorizando medidas importantes como: 1. Aleitamento materno: reduz adiposidade, melhora sensibilidade à insulina e modula a programação metabólica. 2. Vigilância do crescimento: evitar ganho ponderal excessivo e “catch-up” desproporcional. 3. Introdução alimentar adequada: sem açúcares livres e ultraprocessados; respeitar fome e saciedade. 4. Estímulo ao movimento e restrição de telas: prevenção precoce de obesidade e resistência insulínica. O esporte estruturado deve fazer parte da vida dessa criança e futuro adolescente. E ainda na gestação, após o diagnóstico de DMG, o controle da doença: • Reduz hiperinsulinemia fetal • Diminui macrossomia e hipoglicemia neonatal • Atenua programação metabólica adversa • Previne obesidade e diabetes tipo 2 no futuro Resumindo: controlar a diabetes gestacional é prevenção de doença crônica ao longo da vida. #diabetes #diabetesgestacional #gestação #pediatria
