Origins: The Siddis are descendants of the Bantu peoples from East Africa, primarily from modern-day countries like Mozambique, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. They were brought to the Indian subcontinent through various means over centuries: • As early as the 7th century, some Africans arrived as merchants, sailors, and mercenaries. • Between the 13th and 19th centuries, many were brought by Arab and Portuguese traders as slaves, soldiers, or servants. • Others came as part of Islamic armies or settled communities during the rule of Muslim dynasties in India. Settlement and Assimilation: • The Siddis mainly settled in Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. • Over time, they assimilated into local cultures but retained elements of their African heritage, particularly in music, dance, and physical features. • Some Siddis rose to high status as military leaders, nobles, and even rulers. For example, Malik Ambar (1548–1626), a Siddi, became a powerful regent in the Deccan. Culture: • The Siddis speak local languages like Kannada, Gujarati, or Marathi. • Their traditional music and dance, such as the Goma dance, reflect African roots mixed with Indian influences. • Many Siddis follow Islam, while some are Hindus or Christians. Contemporary Status: • Today, Siddis are a marginalized group, often facing socio-economic challenges. • Some efforts are underway to recognize and preserve their unique cultural identity, and they are increasingly being acknowledged as part of India’s diverse heritage.

Nuevos detectives fueron juramentados y acreditados en Caracas Durante un emotivo acto, realizado en el teatro del Instituto Nacional de Capacitación y Recreación de los Trabajadores (Incret), “José Chino Khan”, parroquia El Paraíso, municipio Libertador, Caracas, fueron acreditados en la ciudad de Caracas, 382 Detectives, tras cumplir satisfactoriamente los procesos de formación, pasantías y administrativos para alcanzar las acreditaciones correspondientes. Los funcionarios fueron juramentados con el rango de Detective y su ingreso formal permite fortalecer las diferentes áreas de la institución en Caracas, Miranda y La Guaira así como la Unidad de Criminalística, para así, afianzar el compromiso que posee la Policía Científica con el país, al tener hombres y mujeres altamente preparados ante cualquier situación. El acto, estuvo liderado por el director del Cicpc, C/G Douglas Rico, acompañado por el subdirector general, C/G Jhonny Salazar; el inspector general, C/G Bladimir Flores; la secretaria general, C/G Mercy Bracho y el asesor legal, C/G Juan Pereira, quienes realizaron la entrega de las credenciales de los Detectives, deseándoles todo el éxito y dándoles la bienvenida a la familia, Cicpc.
