Heat just until the butter melts, then remove from heat. Place the 6 beaten eggs in a separate bowl. Slowly drizzle the warm mixture into the eggs while blending or whisking constantly (to avoid scrambling the eggs). Mix until fully combined. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread in the baking dish. Use a spatula to press the bread down gently until everything is fully soaked. Bake at 350°F for 50–60 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set. Here’s what I did with the leftover bread crusts from the uncrustables I made a few days ago. I’m not sure if this is called bread pudding or French toast casserole 🤔…anyone knows the difference? From what I’ve learned a casserole uses more eggs and a bread pudding has a more custard-y texture, fell free to discuss in the comments below. What matters is that this was delicious and the bread crusts did not go to waste. I have seen so many similar recipes around and you’d have to adjust the milk and eggs amounts depending on how much bread crusts you have. This was from about 16 slices of bread. Preheat the oven to 350°F, spray your casserole dish. Tear the bread crusts into smaller pieces then pour 4 tablespoons of melted butter on top. Now sprinkle some chocolate chips, didn’t really measure this so feel free to add as much as you like. You can also use blueberries or skip it all together. Into a separate bowl, whisk 4 eggs. Add about 1/3 cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and some cinnamon. Whisk while slowly adding 2 cups of milk. Pour this mixture on top of the bread crusts. Let this sit for about 15 minutes so that the bread can soak up the milk mixture. Bake in the oven for 40 minutes and enjoy with powdered sugar, ice cream, I’m a maple syrup kind-of-girl so I just drizzled some on top and enjoy ❤️ #zerowaste #breadpudding #dessert or #breakfast
