I had been researching these slugs for a capstone project regarding the implications of nutrient loading in Elkhorn slough. During my research I had learned about their role in cleaning up the algae growth caused by nutrient loading from surrounding farms. By grazing on the algae that can smother eelgrass, these sea slugs are doing their part in protecting our treasured estuaries.
