Here is a little trick to quickly find crystals that might be laying on the ground. Of course you should be in an area that is known to have crystals, or else you may just end up with foil wrappers and broken glass. Day 44/75 becoming an Accredited Gemologist ~ Synthetic & Treated Gem Identification (module 2 of my course). Asterism is a phenomenon displayed in certain gemstones, most commonly Corundum, when cut in cabochon. I was inspired to make this video based on a DM I got asking whether it was possible to make synthetic start sapphires… and here is confirmation that it is! Synthetic Star Corundum is grown through the Verneuil process (aka flame fusion) and interestingly the original boule will not display any phenomenon but needs to go through treatment to produce it.
