I am so annoyed with our geese. They are persisting in laying their eggs out in the open. Last night I went out to do one last check and haul some water when I hear hissing in the dark as I walk past the burn pile. My flashlight finds Pitterpat nestled in the sticks, angry at me for getting too close to her nest. 🤦‍♀️ I picked her (and her eggs) up and gently relocated her to an enclosed room in the barn (with a pile of hay I had prepped for a goose nest!). She then proceeded to reject her eggs and leave for the pond (don’t worry, I escorted her). I think part of the problem has been that our son, Mason, is very enthusiastic about finding eggs and will make a bee line to any common nesting areas, pick up all the eggs, and (with quite a bit of coaxing) put them back. I don’t think the geese like this. Like... they can smell human on their eggs or something. I don’t know. I told myself no more geese and then I got excited for goslings. And now our geese won’t make their nests in the barn areas I have set up for them. 🤦‍♀️ I give up.
