This song title is called ‘trust the process’ and that’s what I’ve been trying to do to hone my charcoal art skills. It’s been a 3 and a half year journey so far to try and master the skill of hyperrealism art. I still have learning and development goals but I’m also proud of how far my daughter and I have come. I’m enjoying playing with the illusion of depth using bokeh (blur) and shadows and have spent as much time working on the concepts and references as I have spent time drawing to ensure there’s a 3D illusion that makes the art feel like it’s jumping off the page. I’d love to share the materials I use with you 🥹🙏⬇️ 1. Penac Protti PRC-105 0.5 mm – I use this mechanical pencil for sketching and making hatching lines for further blending. 2. Beauty sponge – to softly blend the graphite. 3. Palette knives with foam tips – one for dark areas and one for light ones. 4. Faber-Castell kneaded eraser – perfect for lifting and soft corrections. 5. Tombow Mono Zero eraser – I use it for tiny highlights and fine details. 6. Staedtler Mars Lumograph Black – a matte pencil I use to go over dark areas and avoid the shine of regular graphite. 7. Cretacolor charcoal powder – I use it to create a soft, smoky effect. 8. Synthetic brush – for blending and dust control. 9. Staedtler Mars Lumograph & Faber-Castell 9000 – I use these graphite pencils over the finished drawing to add more life and texture. 10. Faber-Castell eraser – cut at a 45-degree angle to create fine erasing lines. 11. Seikai white charcoal – for the brightest highlights in the drawing.
