How to photograph and record your artwork! ⬇️⬇️ “I draw with graphite too, why aren’t your drawings shiny like mine?” I get this question so often from people who draw with graphite pencil. No matter what it will always be shiny, but it’s important to know how to photograph it so you don’t see that shine. Paper quality is a huge factor, but the most important thing is that you’re probably just not photographing or recording your work at the right angles. Move your desk and camera around the room so you will find the best angle to draw and film at where that shine doesn’t appear. You’re probably sitting too close to your light source and not angling your camera properly. Make sure the light source is not aimed directly at the artwork. The room should be lit up (natural light is generally best) but not pointing directly at your drawing. Yes you need good light, but if you’re too close, you get that shine. People ask me under all of my videos why my drawings aren’t shiny. They are. It’s just I’ve figured out the best angle to film at. That’s the key. Because it doesn’t matter how good your drawing is, if you can’t photograph it or record it properly, people can’t see that.
