“I’m just not as flexible as I used to be.” === If that thought has crossed your mind lately, you’re not alone. Tight hamstrings can make simple movements feel harder — bending, walking, even balancing. That’s why this follow-along yoga class includes guided hamstring stretches designed to improve flexibility while protecting your hips and spine. 🧘‍♀️ No forcing. No extreme poses. No ‘bouncing’ your hamstring. Just smart, supportive movement. And that’s only one stretch inside the full class. 🔗 Start the complete session — link in bio.

If you have tight hamstrings, you should do this type of yoga Tight hamstrings are rarely just about the backs of the legs. They’re often connected to the psoas muscle, hip alignment, and how the body is moving as a whole. Ongoing tightness can contribute to back pain, hip discomfort, and a feeling of restriction in everyday life. It can affect how you move, exercise, play sport, and even how comfortable you feel sitting or walking. Yoga, when it’s done properly and personally, can help. Targeted, one to one yoga works to release tight hamstrings, improve mobility through the hips and spine, and restore balance across the full body so movement feels easier and more supported. I’ve been working privately with people for over a decade, supporting those with tight hamstrings, back pain, hip pain, and movement restrictions, guiding you through safe, supportive practices that create lasting change without forcing the body. You don’t need to stretch harder. You need the right support for your body. DM me to connect 🤍 Or contact me for a free discovery call #yoga #health #flexible #calm

Most people try to force hamstring stretches by pulling themselves deeper into a fold. But flexibility usually improves faster when the body opens gradually — hinge first, soften the knees, and let the stretch build slowly. A small sequence like this can completely change how your legs feel throughout the day. Save this for the mornings when your hamstrings feel tight. #hamstringstretch #mobilitytraining #yogaflow #movementpractice #yogatips

If your forward fold hasn’t changed despite all the stretching, you’re probably solving the wrong problem. When you hinge forward, your hamstrings aren’t passively lengthening. They’re eccentrically controlling your bodyweight. That means they need strength in a lengthened position — not just flexibility. If they don’t feel strong there, your nervous system creates protective tension. You interpret that as tightness. But it’s stability your body is looking for. Instead of stretching more, build strength with these 3 exercises. If you want your fold to change, train your hamstrings to feel capable there — not just stretched.

YOUR HAMSTRINGS NEED S&S! 🧘‍♀️ That’s right your hamstrings need Strength and Stretch! A lot of us spend all day sitting… and some of us don’t train our hamstrings 🫠 and both of these (lack of movement and strength) can contribute to some serious hamstring tightness. Along with strengthening your hammies it’s important to spend some time stretching them as well. Give the stretches seen in the video a go: - World’s greatest stretch - Runners lunge Hold each for 20-30 seconds and repeat on both sides twice

One huge way to encourage the hamstrings to lengthen is by contracting the quad muscles. If you think about sitting in a chair, your knees are bent. Your hamstrings are shortened because of knee flexion, and your quads are lengthening. They’re doing opposite jobs. Now flip that. When you’re in a forward fold or Downward Dog and you slightly bend your knees, you give your quads the chance to actually engage. When the quads contract, the hamstrings get the neurological signal that they can ease up. This is reciprocal inhibition — when one muscle turns on, its opposite is allowed to soften. So instead of cranking on tight hamstrings with locked knees, you create support from the front of the thighs. In a forward fold: Bend the knees a little. Lift the kneecaps. Feel the quads switch on. Notice how the back of the legs responds. In Downward Dog: Keep a soft bend. Press the floor away. Lift your hips high. Let the heels be heavy instead of forced. What’s happening underneath: • Quads engage • Hamstrings reduce guarding • Nervous system feels supported • Range of motion improves When you lock your knees and chase straight legs, your body often just grips. It doesn’t feel supported. And when the nervous system doesn’t feel supported, it tightens. Hamstring tightness isn’t the problem — lack of control through range is. These are the movements I use to increase hamstring mobility while protecting the nervous system and joints, not forcing flexibility for aesthetics. This is about: • teaching the hamstrings to lengthen under load • integrating hips, adductors, and spine • and reducing strain before it turns into injury Mobility isn’t how far you stretch — it’s how well you can move there and come back out 🤎 Save this for lower body days, rest days, or anytime your posterior chain feels guarded. Save this for your warm-up 🧠 Send it to someone who always “pulls” a hamstring ✨ #HamstringMobility #MovementMedicine #InjuryPrevention #YogaForLifters #StillnessAndStrength

If you have tight hamstrings you should do this type of yoga Tight hamstrings are often part of a bigger picture. Stiff legs, a tight lower back, old injuries that were never fully resolved. They show up as: • stiff legs • pulling in the back of the thighs • a tight, painful lower back • restricted movement I’ve spent over a decade working one-to-one with people rebuilding after injury, dealing with tight backs, and feeling stuck in stiff bodies, helping them increase flexibility, build strength, and move with more confidence. This is where smart, rehab-focused yoga makes the difference. We focus on building strength and stability through the hips, core, and legs so the hamstrings don’t have to grip and protect all the time. When the body feels strong and supported, it moves differently. Stronger. More flexible. More confident. If your hamstrings are tight and you’re ready to move properly again, DM MOVE.

This week’s theme: Yoga for tight hamstrings. If you spend a lot of time sitting, driving, or working at a desk, you’ve probably felt tightness in the back of your legs. Your hamstrings play a big role in how you move, stand, and bend. When they’re tight, they can pull on your pelvis and lower back, which is why stiffness or that achy back feeling can show up. Tight doesn’t always mean short. Sometimes your nervous system limits your flexibility to protect you especially when you’re tired, stressed, or overwhelmed. That’s why some days you feel open, and other days you feel restricted, without anything being wrong. Your breathing and stress levels also affect your range of motion. When you slow down and breathe, your muscles often soften naturally. This week is an invitation to explore your flexibility with curiosity, patience, and self-love. Every body is different. Every day is different. #yogaclass #yogateacher #selflove #selfkindness

Many people think tight hamstrings are just a flexibility problem—but it’s more complex. Tightness usually comes from a mix of:⁣ ⁣ • 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘤𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦: Weak glutes or quads make hamstrings overwork.⁣ • 𝘕𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯: The sciatic nerve can restrict mobility.⁣ • 𝘑𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴: Limited hip or ankle mobility can make hamstrings feel “short.”⁣ • 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴: Sitting keeps hamstrings in a shortened position.⁣ ⁣ Stretching alone isn’t enough. You need moves that warm up, strengthen, stretch, and glide the nerve for safe, functional lengthening.⁣ ⁣ 𝟲 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀:⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ 𝘌𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘌𝘭𝘦𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘴 – Activates hamstrings and wakes up the posterior chain.⁣ 2️⃣ 𝘏𝘢𝘭𝘧 𝘚𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘗𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵 & 𝘍𝘭𝘦𝘹 – Lengthens hamstrings while improving ankle mobility.⁣ 3️⃣ 𝘏𝘢𝘭𝘧 𝘚𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘴 → Low Lunge – Smooth transitions to open hips safely.⁣ 4️⃣ 𝘚𝘶𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘏𝘢𝘮𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘕𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘎𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 – Mobilizes the sciatic nerve.⁣ 5️⃣ 𝘏𝘢𝘮𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘨𝘦 – Strengthens hamstrings, glutes, and supports the lower back.⁣ 6️⃣ 𝘗𝘺𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘱 𝘏𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦 – Builds functional hamstring length and improves posture.⁣ ⁣ ✅ Pro Tip: Consistency > depth.
