Everyone seems to be hopping on the ‘hormone balancing’ bandwagon as of recent - my feed is inundated with ‘hormone balancing’ recipes or someone trying to sell ‘hormone balancing’ supplements. But have you ever questioned what that even means? What hormones are we trying to balance here? My thyroid hormones? My growth hormones? Cortisol? Estrogen? There are so many different hormones in the body and they all have very different functions - so how can one product or recipe claim to balance all my hormones? Putting it simply - this trend is a huge oversimplification of a very complex topic, once again designed to cause people to worry about things they probably don’t need to worry about. So, if you think you may have symptoms of a hormone imbalance - before blindly taking a supplement, or religiously following a ‘hormone balancing regime’ go to a doctor and get some blood tests done first. And here’s some legitimate things you can do to actually support your hormones: 😴 Get enough sleep 🥑 Eat enough food (especially healthy fats ladies) 🍛 Balance your meals (to keep blood sugar stable) 🤸🏽 Move often (in a way that feels good to you!)
