The human body is a complex and well-organized system made up of different organs, tissues, and cells working together. An adult has 206 bones, over 600 muscles, and about 35–40 trillion cells. Vital organs like the heart, liver, kidneys, and lungs perform essential functions to keep the body alive. The brain controls all activities, while nerves connect different parts of the body. Blood maintains a stable pH and temperature, ensuring proper functioning. Unique features such as the strongest muscle (masseter), smallest bone (stapes), and longest nerve (sciatic nerve) highlight the body’s amazing design. Overall, the human body is a remarkable example of efficiency and balance. #gk #facts #ssc #mcqs #currentaffairsquiz

233,368

Alveoli and Capillaries Think about this - every second you are alive, millions of tiny air sacs called alveoli are working silently. Air enters the lungs → reaches the alveoli → and here the real magic begins. Alveoli have ultra-thin walls (just one cell thick) → surrounding them is a dense network of capillaries → also one cell thick → creating the shortest possible distance between air and blood. Because of this thin barrier → oxygen quickly diffuses into the capillaries → binds with hemoglobin → and is carried to every cell of your body. Why is this important? No oxygen → no cellular respiration → no ATP production → no energy → no life. At the same time → carbon dioxide, a waste product of metabolism, diffuses from capillaries into alveoli → and is expelled during exhalation. If CO₂ accumulates → blood becomes acidic → organ function gets disturbed. The alveoli provide a massive surface area (about 70 square meters) → combined with rich capillary supply → ensuring that every breath supports trillions of cells. So, alveoli & capillaries are not just structures → they are the life-sustaining exchange units → maintaining oxygen supply, acid-base balance, and survival itself. Every breath you take → is a perfectly coordinated biological exchange. . . . . . . #Alveoli #Capillaries #Breathing #GasExchange #OxygenIsLife #HumanPhysiology #RespiratoryHealth #CellularRespiration
