ESSENTIAL FACTS ABOUT DELIBERATE COLD EXPOSURE: MEN vs WOMEN, DOES IT NEGATE RESISTANCE TRAINING, & HOW TO USE IT TO BECOME MORE RESILIENT IN OTHER AREAS OF LIFE • - There’s so much debate and frankly nonsense about deliberate cold exposure out there. And it’s always because it’s presented without the mechanistic context. The mechanisms explain why you do it in the first place and why you can adjust the protocol according to your needs. - I explain in this video. I realize it’s about six minutes long, but this thoroughly covers the mechanisms you need to know and gives you immense control over the protocol that you can apply for various outcomes. It also clarifies a number of common misconceptions. - Please put any questions you have in the comments section below this post and as always, thank you for your interest in science! - @hubermanlab @stanford @stanford.med - #neuroscience #science #ciencia #neurociencia #cold #facts #hypertrophy #strength #resilience #womenshealth #physiology #vagus #myths #fun

🙂😨“Glucose → ATP” looks like a one-line reaction… but it’s actually a stepwise energy extraction system 😄 1. Glycolysis (cytoplasm): Glucose (6C) is split into 2 pyruvate (3C each). The cell first invests 2 ATP, then produces 4 ATP → net 2 ATP. Also forms 2 NADH (electron carriers). 👉 No oxygen needed; fast but low yield. 2. Link Reaction (mitochondria): Each pyruvate is converted into Acetyl-CoA, releasing CO₂. Produces 2 NADH per glucose. 👉 This step connects glycolysis to aerobic respiration. 3. Krebs Cycle / TCA Cycle (mitochondrial matrix): Acetyl-CoA is completely oxidized. Per glucose (2 turns): 2 ATP, 6 NADH, 2 FADH₂ + CO₂ (waste) 👉 Main role is to load high-energy electrons onto NADH/FADH₂. 4. Electron Transport Chain (inner mitochondrial membrane): NADH & FADH₂ donate electrons to protein complexes. This drives proton (H⁺) pumping → creates a gradient. Protons flow back through ATP synthase → large-scale ATP production. Oxygen acts as final electron acceptor → forms water. 👉 Produces ~28–32 ATP (major share). Overall idea: Energy is not released at once. It’s extracted in controlled steps, stored in carriers (NADH/FADH₂), and finally converted into ATP efficiently. 👉 Total: ~30–36 ATP per glucose @biotech.symposium

Why do ancient mummies smell like warm bread? 🍞 Nobel Prize-winning scientist Svante Pääbo explains how it's all thanks to the Maillard reaction. This is the same chemical process that browns baked goods and occurs in preserved tissues over time. That toasty aroma? It’s centuries of sugar and protein chemistry at work. #NobelPrize #SvantePääbo #Anthropology #Skeleton #Physiology

🦴 Anatomy of the Lower Limb From standing to walking, running, and jumping — the lower limb supports the entire body and enables movement every single day. 🔹 Pelvis – Connects the spine to the lower limbs 🔹 Femur – The longest and strongest bone in the body 🔹 Patella – Protects the knee joint 🔹 Tibia & Fibula – Provide stability and weight bearing 🔹 Tarsals, Metatarsals & Phalanges – Form the structure of the foot for balance and locomotion Understanding anatomy is the first step to understanding movement, injury, and clinical practice. 📚 Simple anatomy. Hemostasis ka clinical importance hai ki agar yeh process properly kaam na kare to body me bleeding ya abnormal clot formation ho sakta hai. Hemostasis ke defect se bleeding disorders jaise Hemophilia aur Von Willebrand Disease ho sakte hain, jinme blood easily aur long time tak beh sakta hai. Platelet count ya function kam hone par bhi bleeding badh jati hai. Dusri taraf, agar clot zyada ban jaye to Deep Vein Thrombosis ya Stroke jaise conditions ho sakti hain jo life-threatening hoti hain. Isliye hemostasis ka proper balance maintain rehna bahut important hai, aur surgery ya treatment se pehle iska assessment zaroor kiya jata hai. #hemostasis #explorepage✨ #physiology #physiologynotes #educationalreel Studyhard, medicalstudent, medicalstudy, physiology, blood, educationalcontent, neet, mbbs, medicalstudent, physiotherapist, explore, followpage, medicalreel, followme, studywithme, followformoresucheducationalvideos, topics, notes, easynotes, commentfornotes, follow

The pressure shows the priority. Breathing and how you breathe, is a high priority. The breath is always variable in our training and performance, whether you pay attention to it or not. You’ll pay attention to it when it’s nowhere to be found, but not when it’s shortcutting your performance elsewhere? What is the cost of your unconscious breathing patterns? POTENTIAL COSTS: - Breathing in excess of metabolic demand. (Hyperventilation) (possible vasoconstriction) - Inefficient Oxygen Delivery to working muscles, extremities, and the brain. - Core Instability, which can lead to movement dysfunction. Poor breathing compromises core activation. (Diaphragm & Pelvic Floor are part of your “core” function too) Potential problems with spinal stability and intra-abdominal pressure. This can lead to compensatory movement patterns, which increase the risk of injuries. - Erratic Breathing can limit prefrontal cortex function, and increase mental fatigue, and can increase perceived physical fatigue. - Signals of Stress to the Brain & Nervous System when not necessary. - Impediments to recovery, sleep, and fine motor control, and potentially influence and restrict experiences of flow/runners high/being in the zone. Breathe well. Be well. - BP #Breathe #BreathTraining #Stress #BreathCoach #Physiology
