Hyper Extension Variations (KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!) If you keep your back straight, you’ll target the lower back on the hyperextension. If you curl your upper back like this and point your toes outward, you’ll target the gluteal muscles. Size & Shred Training program 👉🏻 deltabolic.com (link in bio) #hyperextension #hyperextensions

If you’re trying to strengthen those erectors, the back extension can be a good option - I just recommend keeping a relatively straight spine as you do them to reduce the risk of injuries when loading the movement heavily. #fitness #gym

No GHD or reverse hyper machine?! No problem!! Here’s a simple alternative using a bench. The reverse hyperextension is such an underrated posterior chain exercise! It’s perfect for strengthening your glutes, hamstrings, and spinal erectors while providing gentle spine traction which feels amazing! ✅ Improves hip extension power for sport ✅ Supports low back health ✅ Scales from rehab to high-performance training Stronger hips. Healthier back. Better performance. Try it and tag a friend - let us know how it goes! 🔥

HORIZONTAL BACK EXTENSION: before the 45° hyper extension became so popular, this was the premiere exercise to strengthen the spina directors, unfortunately horizontal back extension machines are very uncommon today, but if you have one I suggest utilizing it it’s a simple exercise that can be regressed or progressed readily Once you’ve gotten strong wirh Bodyweight, add weight at the chest or behind the head This exercise does work the glute deals at the same time, you get glute strength with back strength. For that reason it’s usually better to program these on a lower body day

Reverse hyper extension is quite an amazing but yet under-rated exercise and I truly believe that this particular exercise gives the much-needed impetus for the low back. Low back issues come in different designs. This exercise is safe and time tested. I prefer to start with iso holds of 15 seconds to start with and you can work your way up to 60 seconds. Once you are proficient with iso holds and if you feel you need more fuel for the fire you can add dynamics and manual resistance. please choose whichever level you are in #physicaltherapist #strengthandconditioning #strength #personaltrainer #gym #gymmotivation #lowbackpain #discbulge #physio #physiotherapist #reversehyper #chiropractic #osteopathy #rehab #prehab #fastbowling #wtc #ipl2023 #rcb #rcbfans #primalpatterns #getsetchange #carlosalcaraz #djokovic #frenchopen #igaswiatek #deadlift #hipthrust

45-Degree Back Extension (also called Hyperextension). It targets your lower back, plus glutes and hamstrings. 🏋️♂️ How to Do It 1. Setup • Adjust the pad so your hips rest just above the top edge. • Cross arms over chest or hold a light plate for more resistance. • Feet flat on the platform, heels secure. 2. Lowering Phase • Inhale and slowly bend at the hips, keeping your back straight. • Lower your torso until it’s roughly at a 90° angle to your legs. 3. Extension Phase • Exhale and raise your torso back up until your body forms a straight line from head to heels. • Squeeze glutes at the top—don’t hyper-extend (avoid arching past straight). ✅ Key Tips • Keep your core tight and spine neutral. • Move with control; don’t bounce at the bottom. • Add a weight plate or hold a dumbbell across your chest as you progress. 💪 Muscles Worked • Primary: Erector spinae (lower back) • Secondary: Glutes, hamstrings 📈 Programming • 3–4 sets × 12–15 reps for core strength and posture • Great as a warm-up for deadlifts or as a finisher on back/glute day.

✨ Lower back on hyperextensions ✨ 3 common mistakes to avoid so you really feel it in your lower back: 1️⃣ On your tippy toes → Keep your feet planted flat on the platform for more stability & better activation. 2️⃣ Rounded back → Focus on keeping your spine straight to target the lower back safely. 3️⃣ Going too low → Instead of dropping all the way down, come up higher to keep the tension where you want it. Controlled. Intentional. Lower back gains 💕 #inspiregrowthfitness #personaltrainer #gymreels #fitnessgoals #gymtok #personaltraining #lowerback #LowerBackWorkout #FormTips #GymGirls

Hamstring vs. Glute Bias Hyper Extensions If you’re fortunate enough to have access to this machine, using these different variations is a great way to shift more emphasis to one area or the other If you have a standard hyper extension machine you can still set yourself up in a way to make the movement more glute focused, but I usually don’t bother with that as it just tends to be more difficult for most individuals to perform effectively A few cues that I’ll use here in both variations is to make sure that the feet are firmly driven into the platform at all times. You can think of screwing the feet into the platform through the eccentric phase while reaching / pushing away, & really focus on driving through the base of the big toe (while keeping the heel - entire forefoot in contact as well). If you feel your lower back on fire when you do these, you’re probably doing them wrong.
