It is very common to think that we should actively pull the blade out to the side in the water. But that is not really what we want. What we want is to load the blade well and put pressure into it, more down and back than simply out to the side. If that connection is good and we keep “the box”, the wing blade will move out by itself. That is also why it helps to think a bit more down into the blade instead of just “power out to the side”. The blade creates lift in the water and if we meet that lift well, it gives us something much more solid to move against with our bodyweight and power. This is one of those details that sounds small, but can completely change the feeling of the stroke when it starts to click. Inside the paddling platform at SKOOL I go much deeper into things like this, step by step. Link in bio or message me if you have any questions 😃 #kayaking #paddling #piragüismo #planetcanoe

Improving your posture is low-hanging fruit when it comes to improving your boat handling on the river. Working on this aspect of your paddling is one of the easiest wins you can make and will pay dividends in more dynamic water. Sitting upright gives you more room to rotate, engage your core, lock into your kayak, and feel truly connected. That solid connection lets you transfer power efficiently from paddle to boat, making your strokes smoother and more purposeful. 🚀 When the water gets lively, good posture gives you more control, stability, and confidence. 🌊 Next time you're on the river, take a moment to check in on your posture; you'll feel the difference straight away. 👌 If you would like to explore Online White Water, you can gain instant access today with our 7-day FREE trial ⬇️ Subscribe ➡️ Links in Bio ➡️ @onlinewhitewater #kayaklife #NRS #whitewater #nrsweb #onlinelearningplatform #whitewaterkayaking #kayaking #whitewaterkayaking NRS NRS Europe Pyranha Kayaks

did you know these?!✨🌊🛶 Three kayak safety tips from a paddling guide: 1) if you capsize, try and stay with your boat 2) PFDs (life jackets) need to be worn at all times on the water! 3) dress for immersion (the water temp, not the air temp BONUS for all wilderness travel: 4) Carry three ways to signal for help that aren’t a cell phone!

Is this kayaking advice or life advice...? YES. I find the more you panic, the more you fumble, the more energy/oxygen you burn in the process, leaving feeling like you're running out of time, which further exacerbates your plight. Some good practice for getting comfortable rolling a kayak is slowing the whole thing down. Even if you're not ready to roll yet, apply the same to your wet exit and self rescue! Be methodical in the process. Take your time with each step. Often, I see people ripping the skirt before they are even fully capsized. You'll find that if you really slow it down, it may take you 5-10 seconds total to go through each individual motion. This will feel like you're barely moving it's so slow, but ANYONE can easily hold their breath for 10-20 seconds with no prep. My favorite saying is: "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast." If you focus on technique, you'll find yourself becoming much more efficient! Full edit from the last clip that did significantly better on the tok, so I figured I'd post it here too. #optoutside #goplayoutside #yaktribe #phseakayaks #kayakers #seakayaking #paddle365 #outsideisthebestside #goexplore #greenlandpaddle #gearlabpaddles

5 things to learn before you go kayaking anywhere 🚣♀️🌊 1️⃣ Balance matters more than strength ⚖️ Kayaking isn’t about power. Stay relaxed and let your body move with the kayak. 2️⃣ Use your core, not just your arms 💪🌀 Twist your torso while paddling — it saves energy and gives you better control. 3️⃣ Never skip the life jacket 🦺❗ Even if you can swim. Water conditions can change quickly. 4️⃣ If you’re two people, seating matters 👥🚣♂️ The stronger partner — who can also follow instructions 🧠 — should sit at the back. They control direction, speed, and help keep the kayak stable 🎯 5️⃣ Don’t fight the water 🌊➡️ Follow the current and paddle smart. Resistance only makes you tired faster 😮💨 Kayaking looks easy from the shore 👀 but once you’re on the water — these basics change everything ✨ Save this before your next kayaking plan 💾🚣♀️ Where would you like to try it next? 👇🌍 . #kayaking #traveltips #watersports #travelexperience #travelguide (How to do kayak , kayaking experience, guide to kayak , kayaking activities, kayaking places to do , kayak boat , cute kayak , photography on kayak , kayak reels , kayaking in thailand , Thailand kayaking , viral reel post , chatgpt , Famous reel , Guide reel , informative reel )

Most anglers overload their kayak before they ever master it. More gear doesn’t automatically mean more fish. In fact, it usually means less stability, more clutter, and a heavier setup that’s harder to control. Don’t build heavy. Build smart. Focus on: • Stability • Weight distribution • Intentional upgrades • Function over flex Dial in the fundamentals first. The rest can come later. Are you building for performance… or just adding weight? #KayakFishing #BassFishing #KayakBuild #FishingLife

Getting out of your sea kayak while wearing a spray skirt can feel intimidating at first, but mastering this skill is crucial for staying safe and confident on the water. Whether you’re docking, taking a break, or practicing a rescue, knowing how to exit smoothly is key. Here are 5 important tips to help you get out of your kayak with a spray skirt on: • Stay calm and focused. Panicking or rushing can throw off your balance. Take a deep breath, stay relaxed, and move with intention. Smooth, controlled movements will make the process much easier. • Locate and firmly pull the spray skirt grab loop. This is your release point. Grabbing it firmly and pulling it straight up will detach the skirt from the cockpit rim. Avoid pulling at an angle to prevent damage or getting stuck. • Lean forward slightly to shift your weight over your hands or knees. This helps keep your kayak stable as you start sliding your legs out. The goal is to avoid tipping the kayak sideways. • Slide your legs out carefully, one at a time. Start by extending one leg, then the other, slowly and with control. If you try to move both legs at once, you risk losing balance. • Use your paddle, dock, or a partner for extra support. Having something to hold onto while you exit can make the process safer and more secure, especially if you’re new to it or the water is moving. Practicing this in calm, flat water is the best way to build muscle memory and confidence. The more you practice, the easier it becomes—and you’ll be ready to handle unexpected situations like capsizing or rescues with ease. If you want to really build your skills, consider joining one of our upcoming sea kayaking courses.
