4 ways to make the scriptures come alive no matter your age. 1. Invite CHRIST in by highlighting CHRIST, THE LORD, SAVIOR, or any name HE is referenced, every time YOU read of HIM. 2. Add YOUR name - put your name in place of others, to personalize the messages to YOU. 3. Draw YOURSELF in the margins of the scriptures - use thought bubbles to share YOUR thoughts. 4. Create a partnership with CHRIST thru prayer - ask questions and have faith to receive answers. Love & Light, Michelle #scripture #scripturejournaling #scriptures #scriptureoftheday #lds

As you enjoy time off and spend time with your family and friends remember the miraculous birth that happened and the eternal hope we have because of it ✨ (Reading from New Living Translation, Chronological Life Application Study Bible from Tyndale!)

For maybe the first time, the Church is not just allowing, but openly encouraging members to use Bible translations other than the King James Version, and it’s going to change how we study the Old Testament next year for two major reasons. For most of our history, the Church has been pretty firm on using only the KJV (though there are definitely exceptions to this!!) And the new policy still says the KJV helps maintain consistency. But then it adds something interesting: “Other Bible translations may also be used. Some individuals may benefit from translations that are doctrinally clear and easier to understand.” They even go so far as to provide a list of recommended translations based on reading level. Now, this didn’t come out of nowhere. In 2021, the Church said other Bibles could be useful for personal or academic study. But this update goes much further because it removes the conditions. These translations aren’t just a side resource anymore, and this matters for two huge reasons. First: language. I love the beauty of the King James Version, but Jacobian English is not how we speak today. This can create unnecessary barriers, especially for children, youth, and new readers. Modern translations can make difficult passages finally make sense, especially with formatting poetry. Second, and this is even bigger, biblical scholarship has advanced dramatically since the 1600s. We’ve discovered earlier and better manuscripts, including the Dead Sea Scrolls, that help clarify the original text. And Article of Faith 8 literally encourages us to seek the best translations available. Now, I’m probably still going to use my KJV for a lot of personal study, because I love the language, but this opens up a lot of exciting options for people in their study. For more details, check the Church newsroom, and if you want to study the Old Testament with a Latter-day Saint Hebrew scholar who actually uses these translations, check out Jesus Christ in Scripture with Dr. Donald Parry and Tammy Uzelac Hall. @jesuschristinscripture #lds #churchofjesuschristoflatterdaysaints #churchofjesuschrist #biblestudy #kjv

“Pour out your heart to God. Ask Him if these things are true. Make time to study His words. Really study! If you truly love your family and if you desire to be exalted with them throughout eternity, pay the price now—through serious study and fervent prayer—to know these eternal truths and then to abide by them. “If you are not sure you even believe in God, start there. Understand that in the absence of experiences with God, one can doubt the existence of God. So, put yourself in a position to begin having experiences with Him. Humble yourself. Pray to have eyes to see God’s hand in your life and in the world around you. Ask Him to tell you if He is really there—if He knows you. Ask Him how He feels about you. And then listen.” President Russell M. Nelson | “Come, Follow Me” | April 2019 General Conference
