There was one realization that changed everything for my back: I had to stop avoiding the weak and tight areas around my spine, and start confronting them. That didn’t mean pushing through pain. It meant no longer using weakness as an excuse. I needed to find a pain free level I could train. Once I started gently training my lower back, abdominals, and hips, I finally got to see my potential for the first time. It was like walking into the gym for the first time when you can only bench the bar, but excited for your potential. My back wasn’t broken. It was just untrained. Training is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to addressing back issues. If you want to understand the full picture, join my Skool community. It’s linked on my profile.

Your Low Back = The Missing Link in Power Development Most athletes train their abs, glutes, and hamstrings… But skip the one area that ties it all together…. the low back. A strong low back does way more than just protect your spine. It plays a direct role in how much power you can actually produce and transfer during explosive movements. ✅ Force Transfer The low back stabilizes your spine and pelvis, allowing you to transmit force efficiently from the ground through your limbs. ✅ Hip Extension Power It works with your glutes and hamstrings to drive hip extension a key action behind every powerful move in sport. ✅ Injury Prevention A strong, conditioned low back helps prevent tweaks and breakdowns during heavy lifts or high-velocity actions, so you can train harder, longer. ✅ Core Integration This is part of your posterior core. When trained properly, it increases total-body stability and makes your power output far more efficient. Stop neglecting it. Start building it. These 5 variations will make your low back stronger, more resilient, and more athletic. 👇 Tag a teammate who’s got a glass back #backexercise #posteriorchain #core #coreworkout #athlete #rugby #strengthandconditioning

💥Basic Strengthening for Low Back Pain💥 💥Back pain can be scary, it can be debilitating and it can leave you wondering what to do, what not to do and overall very apprehensive to move, for fear you might make things worse. 🤷‍♀️Does this sound like you? If it does, you are NOT alone! 🎉This is where a good healthcare provider comes in. 💥My job as a physical therapist is to reassure my patients that it’s okay to move, it’s also normal to feel some discomfort when starting to move again, and even if you feel some pain during rehab exercises, we are (USUALLY) not making things worse by moving. 💥During my first session with new patients I always make it a point to find movements and exercises that feel good for the patient, ones that don’t recreate any symptoms and start moving and building strength there. This gives patients a lot of confidence & hope and that is sooooo important in rehab!!!! 💥Anyway, everyone is different and what works for my patients may not work for you, but here’s 4 basic strength movements I will introduce as soon as I can (usually day one): 1️⃣ Suitcase Carries - functional, works unilateral strength / stability & most people aren’t fearful of this so it’s a good place to start. 2️⃣ Modified Dead Bugs - holding a weight overhead provides proximal stability and stiffness (helps to keep ribs down and helps to keep back flat) - increasing proximal stiffness increases our ability to isolate and control distal limb movement. This is a regression to a traditional dead bug which focuses on distal control / stability / strength of the anterior core. 3️⃣ RDL’s - functional movement & most people are fearful of these which is why I start them early within a smaller range of motion to improve confidence and begin rebuilding low back / posterior chain strength. 4️⃣ Goblet Squats - another functional movement and another movement many are fearful of doing so I will reduce range here too or have them squat to a box first to reduce fear and strengthen mid/ upper back as well as their legs. Disclaimer: this is NOT medical advice!

When you have pain in your lower back, it’s because the muscles are too tight and it’s pinching the nerves. To relax the muscles. The most important thing to know is to relax all of the muscles around the pain area. Here are a handful of exercises that are really good for releasing tightness in the lower back by relaxing the muscles in the sides, glutes and hips area 😊 If you like to learn about my 60 day body mind transformation program, comment the word READY and I’ll send you more information about it.
