Let’s talk about one of my most asked questions! “Do you do luminary nails?” Yes!!! But let me explain! First things first, luminary is just a certain brand of structured gel. Not its own type of nails! What is structured gel? Structured gel helps to keep your nails healthy and strong so you can grow them out to the length you desire! You can either do a layover (natural nail length) or you can build out an extension (add length to your nails) Although sometimes I use Luminary structured gel, my go-to product is a structured gel from Simply and it works wonders! It has the same benefits as luminary! The structured gel I use is based off each client’s unique nail needs. I always pick the product that will best benefit your nails! Hope this clears things up!! Nail care tips nobody talks about 👀💅 • Your nails need hydration just like your skin. Dry nails = peeling & breakage. Use cuticle oil or any light oil regularly ✨ • Cuticle oil is not optional. Healthy cuticles = stronger nail growth. Apply daily, even at night 💖 • Stop using your nails as tools 🚫 Opening cans, scratching stickers, etc. weakens nails more than you think. • Always file in one direction. Back-and-forth filing causes splits and rough edges. Be gentle 💅 • Take breaks from gel & acrylics. Constant nail extensions make nails thin and weak. Let them breathe 🌿 • Wear gloves while doing household work 🧤 Cleaning chemicals and water exposure damage nails badly. • What you eat shows on your nails. Luminary offers so many benefits to both nail techs and clients with its durable hard gel finish, excellent adhesion and speedy self-leveling ability.  To really get that top notch retention, consider these few tips: -Use a scrub in layer and cure it before doing a slip layer and structure. This is really going to add extra grip between the nail plate and your builder layers! -Credit card thick and even free edge. Avoid cracks and chips by making sure the free edge is properly strengthened with the right amount of product. Not to thick, not to thin, just right! -Stick to medium length or shorter nails. Because Luminary is flexible, it’s not *quite* strong enough to support those longer lengths without the risk of stress cracks or full-on breaks! Luminary is a rockstar on those short to medium length nails. If you don’t get your nails done you can still maintain clean, healthy natural nails at home with this routine!🧼💅🏼 more details ⬇️ •Regularly file your nails💅🏼 not only does this improve the shape, but it can also make them stronger and healthier, therefore reducing the risk of chipping and snagging on clothes etc. Use a file a grit of 180 or above, using a course grit file could lead to breakages down the line. •Use cuticle remover🧼 cuticle remover exfoliates your nail, breaking down the excess cuticle and dry skin stuck to your nail plate. It’ll soften the surrounding area and make the whole process of cuticle removal a whole lot easier. •Pushing back the proximal nail fold & removing cuticle💫 you don’t need to do this more than 2x a week. Regularly introducing this gentle prep work into your routine will make your nails look so much cleaner, and if you apply nail polish at home you will find application much easier. BUT It’s important to not be tempted to use cuticle nippers or scissors on yourself if you are not trained to do so, if done incorrectly it can cause excessive growth, and increases the chances of infection. If you feel cuticle pushing alone isn’t enough for your nails, book a manicure with a pro nail tech💖 •Hydrate your skin & nails💧I’ve spoken so much about this in the past, but this is the step that will make the biggest difference. 5 tips for a perfect Luminary application ⬇️ 1. Use purity then commit 🚨 Purity is the perfect dehydrator for removing dust + oil from the nail surfaces after prep & before applying Commit primer. 2. Cure one finger at a time under the pulse setting until finished🚨 This helps prevent flooding in the cuticle & reduces heat spikes. 3. Start with the thumb nails🚨 this gives the thumbs more time in the light to cure fully. 4. Cure the whole hand for 60 sec at the end before polishing 🚨 this is the final step in the curing process to ensure the Luminary is cured all the way. 5. ONLY use the Luminary Pulse light 🚨 Luminary base is customized to cure the best with the luminary pulse light. Using a different light could potentially not be curing the luminary fully. Not curing fully could cause lifting, peeling, or even allergy development I am a FIRM believer if following proper steps to a T.
