Day 7: Making my book from scratch✍️ I’ve been a bit behind lately. I spent the last few weeks making some wedding invitations and have been preparing to do a reading of one of my short stories for an event at Goldsmiths. Time seems to be slipping away from me recently so I relish in these moments when I don’t have to think and can just be. I love the slow pace of book making, having to wait for the paper or ink to dry before carrying on. There is no rushing, lots of time for cups of tea or afternoon walks🐾 #art #craft #bookstagram #handmade #writing

A book that consists of completely self-made parts. Self-made paper on the inside in a beautiful blue and self-colored paper on the outside for the cover. I have to admit, I've had a weakness for blue for a few years now and it really wasn't always like this. I really love this deep blue cover color. Basically, I really like the result. But now comes another project color... but which one? Orange? Green? Or my all-time favorite purple? Orange? Grün? Oder mein Allzeit Favorit Lila? #bookstagramm #bookmaker #booknerd #bookie #minibuch #miniaturbook #bindery #handmadepaper #ink #reliure #buchbinden

How many ways can you make a book? It’s my mission to learn 100 bindings. Do you think I can do it? Here’s 11 bindings I’ve made so far. Which one is your favourite? I’m fascinated in how every culture has made books differently. Here are some bindings from Turkey, France, Egypt, China and England. If you want to follow my journey, I’ll be sharing a new binding every month. This month I released two bindings (Drum Leaf & Bradel Binding) All of these structures have their own tutorial, so you can learn them too. Designing and hand making my first art book was a gruelling learning curve but it feels good knowing each book has a part of my soul in it forever. I’ll only ever make 50 of these and I’ve completed my first batch.
