„Just stay loose!“ – Yeah, but how? 🤔 Sure, we’ve all heard it. 🙄 It’s common sense - or even a “duh” tip? As a full-time MTB coach, however, I can tell you this: most riders KNOW it, but they don’t actually DO it. And that’s where things go wrong on chunky terrain. To truly separate the bike from your body, you need to: ✅ Keep your weight balanced through your legs (not hanging on the bars!) ✅ Use the FOOT WEDGE©️ to control your position and maintain traction (What’s this? 📩 PM me to get the full video link) ✅ Constantly RE-position your body to stay balanced over the bottom bracket - to avoid getting pulled around by the bike 💡 Try this: 1️⃣ Find a small roll-down and focus on getting LOW before the roll down, then keeping your torso stable while letting the bike move freely underneath you. 2️⃣ VIDEO yourself! 👀 Are you stable, or is your bike throwing you around? 😖Struggling with this? It’s NOT just about technique. If you lack strength, mobility, or stability, your body literally won’t let you move the way you need to. 🔥 That’s exactly why I created my online programs, fixing the hidden limitations that hold you back on the bike. Want in? 📩 DM me for details! 📌 Save this & tag a friend who feels out of control on chunky tech! 🚵♀️My Bike: @lapierrebikes 🎽My gear: @enduraofficial 🛞My Tires: @schwalbetires ☝️My brakes: @magura_bicycle 🍑My ergonomic parts: @sqlab 🎒 My pack: @deuter 🦵My pads: @gformofficial #MountainBiking #MTBTips #BikeBodySeparation #MTBSkills #RideBetter #MTBCoaching #SkillUpChallenge #ChunkyTrails #TrailConfidence

MTB trainers love a plank, but your spine is meant to move Not just hold positions all day long Here’s how to train it properly so you’re a bit more bullet proof for what MTB has to throw at you instead of crumbling the second you can’t hold a neutral spine 👊🏽 #mtb #mtbfitness #mtbcoach #mtbstrength #dh #enduro

Body positioning seems like a simple skill, yet, as a full time coach I can share that over 80% of the crashes I see are caused by body positioning mistakes. In fact, one of the most common errors on roll-downs (and in steep downhills) is the still-commonly-given bro tip: Just move back! 🙄 Don’t get me wrong: YES the bike needs to move forward into the steep, so you DO want to be behind the saddle during the roll-down/steep downhill, BUT you want to gently guide the bike forward in CONTROL. Why will this give us control? When we stay balanced & stable through the feet with our center of mass over the bottom bracket - and move the bike beneath us - we generate traction and direction, which gives the system stability. How do we do that? ✅ Stay evenly and heavily planted through the feet and use arms and legs as natural suspension ➡️ The body (the heavy mass) STAYS balanced, while the bike (the light mass) moves. Why not to move back? Once you move back and hang off your bars, the bike will take control - you (the heavy mass) will be pulled forward, which takes traction (and direction) off the front tire and can cause a “catapult effect” whereby the bike “spits” the body forward and can even send you over the bars 🤕 ⚠️The more advanced the rider and the more technical the terrain, the more important TINY nuances in body positioning become. 💪 Let’s work together to find the tiny nuances you’re currently missing to ride steep technical trails KNOWING and FEELING why and how to stay in control! Ready to take on drops or improve them? Here’s how ⬇️ 🔸Find a drop within your own ability! I recommend finding one with a backside and then progressing from there! 🔸Make sure when you drop in, your dropper post is down. 🔸You want to have a nice, tall body position when dropping in. Keep momentum going into the drop, don’t press those brakes last minute! 🔸When your front wheel comes off the drop, unweight it! Don’t push down or pull up on the handlebars, instead just guide the bike forward. 🔸 When landing, land in the center and absorb with your arms and legs. Keep your eyes forward and roll it out!
