Want to be efficient with your mulch? Try it this way!👌 #mulch #tips #fyp #randyslawncare99

Mulch seems simple. Dump it around plants. Done, right? WRONG. So very wrong. Here are the 5 mistakes we see CONSTANTLY (and how to fix them): 1. THE MULCH VOLCANO 🌋 (Most common mistake) Mulch piled 6-12 inches high against tree trunks and shrub stems Why it's BAD: - Creates perfect home for rodents and insects to burrow and damage plants - Suffocates root flare (where trunk meets roots) What to do instead: - Create a "donut" not a "volcano" - Mulch depth at trunk: 0 inches - Mulch depth in bed: 2-4 inches 2. TOO MUCH MULCH (The more-is-better fallacy) 6-8 inches of mulch "because it lasts longer" Why it's BAD: - Prevents water from reaching soil (plants die of thirst sitting IN mulch) - Prevents oxygen from reaching roots (roots suffocate) Proper depth: 2-4 inches. That's it. More isn't better. 3. WRONG MULCH TYPE FOR THE JOB Cedar mulch in vegetable gardens, dyed mulch everywhere, cypress mulch in Kansas (why??) Why it's BAD: - Cedar mulch suppresses plant growth (great for pathways, TERRIBLE for flower beds) - Dyed mulch can leach chemicals, doesn't break down well, looks fake - Cypress mulch is expensive, shipped from far away, not ideal for Kansas climate - Pine bark in high-wind areas = mulch all over your lawn by spring Right mulch for the job: - VEGETABLE GARDENS: Shredded hardwood or straw (NOT cedar) - FLOWER BEDS: Shredded hardwood or fine bark - TREE RINGS: Hardwood chips or bark nuggets - PATHWAYS: Cedar chips or larger bark chunks (suppression is GOOD here) - KANSAS CLIMATE: Hardwood mulch holds moisture better than pine in our dry summers. DONE. Your plants are happy. Your wallet is happy. Your beds look amazing.

Mulch = moisture control + weed prevention + root protection 🔥 Simple upgrade. Big results. #mulching #benefits #fyp #randyslawncare99

We requested additional garden mulch from the arborist so that we can use it as ground cover in the front and the backyard. Mulch in between your plants are a great way of conserving soil moisture, suppressing weeds, and regulating the soil temperature. There are many benefits to mulching your garden and highly recommended.

Mulch helps to keep plant roots moist and cut down of weeds in the garden. You can contact your local arborist to get mulch or tree cutting for your garden. This mulch was for free since they have to find a place to get rid of the tree cuttings daily. #organic #gardening #mulching #fyp
