One of the hallmark symptoms of DID is dissociative amnesia—gaps in memory for personal information, daily events, or even entire periods, usually linked to past traumatic experiences, often from childhood. People with DID may also experience depersonalisation (feeling disconnected from their own body or thoughts) and derealisation (feeling detached from the external world). The stereotypical Autism concept that schools and the community alike share is extremely limiting, and leads to under-diagnosis and support of creative and social individuals. For many the stereotypes of autism seem to fit ok, and some of those people like to point out the Myers Briggs is not a diagnostic tool and does not diagnose anything. That is because personality type is not a diagnosis. Yes, like most assessments it is a self report (personality) assessment that’s outcome changes as often as you change, and is frequently used in college and university for major and career exploration purposes. (For anyone else who is confused that this is a scientific claim, this is an insta reel with a very silly pink hat, not a dissertation or textbook with references. No one is claiming it is). Personality types are not in the DSM because they are not pathology or a disability. Qualitative research and actual experience of real people is also vital to the field of psychotherapy not just quantitative research (and a blend of both).
