Dive into the fascinating revelation of the Separate Seas mentioned in the Quran, where two seas meet but do not mix. This natural phenomenon, only recently understood by oceanographers, is explained by surface tension—a force that keeps the waters apart, as if a thin wall stands between them. How incredible that such knowledge was shared in the Quran long before it was understood scientifically! 📖 "He has let loose the two seas, converging together, with a barrier between them they do not break through." (Quran, Chapter 55, Verses 19-20) Explore more about the wonders of nature and the profound insights found in the Quran. #Quran #ScientificMiracles #SeparateSeas #Oceanography #SurfaceTension #NatureWonders #IslamicScience #Inspiration #Knowledge #FaithAndScience

Adélie #penguin (Pygoscelis adeliae) 🐧🌊🤔 Adélie #penguins were discovered in 1840 by scientists on the French #Antarctic expedition! Some Adélie penguins are capable of diving to depths of up to 175 m but usually feed within the upper 70 m of the water column. Science Today: Oceanographers discovered that where saltwater and freshwater meet —like where rivers flow into seas — they don’t immediately mix due to a barrier with distinct temperature, salinity, and density. Quran (Surah Al-Furqan: 53): “And it is He who has released the two seas, one fresh and sweet and the other salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and a forbidding partition.” This was revealed over 1400 years ago , before any scientific equipment could study marine boundaries. No microscopes. No submarines. No science labs. A hidden barrier…. confirmed by science, revealed in the Quran 1400 years ago. Even those who doubt are left in awe… How could a man in the desert have known this? Coincidence? Or a sign from the Creator? Only the Word of Allah. Quran and Science walk hand in hand… for those willing to see. Let truth speak… even if hearts deny it. #quranandscience #divinerevelation #truthrevealed #miracle #quransayings #i̇slam #spiritual #peace

Everything’s better where it’s wetter 🌊 Earth’s final frontier is BOOMING, and it’s such an engaging space to work in with many unsolved challenges. Switching to studying and developing ocean systems has exposed me to some of most fascinating and extreme environments. And the people (oceanographers, engineers, artists, software devs, scuba divers, and many more) who are making it happen are the nicest bunch you’ll meet. There’s a place for everyone, and I’m thankful for everyone I’ve met along the way 🐠 #oceanengineering #oceanscience #offshore #engineeringlife #marinerobotics

Our sixth graders became oceanographers in the lab today as they explored the question: What makes ocean water different from fresh water? Using plastic bags as “mini oceans,” students added measured amounts of salt to fresh water and observed how the solution changed. They gently created waves to dissolve the salt, then collected data by weighing their samples, proving that even when we cannot see it, dissolved salt adds mass and increases water’s density. This hands-on investigation not only deepened their understanding of Earth’s systems and the interconnected spheres of our planet, but also built excitement for their upcoming outdoor education trip to Santa Cruz Island, where they will encounter the ocean environment firsthand.

Last week primary students from @somersfieldacademy visited the station for a field trip as part of their science curriculum. They collected plankton samples using a plankton tow aboard one of our research boats and examined the organisms under microscopes. 🤩 Special guest appearance from oceanographers Amy Maas and Leo Blanco-Bercial 🌟 The field trip was offered through our Curriculum Enrichment Program, which includes a variety of excursions aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum or adapted to individual school curricular standards. 🔗 To learn more about our half-day field trips or other programs offered through our curriculum support visit the link in our profile.
