After YEARS of saying I’d eventually do one…I did it! Here was my experience doing my first @parkrunuk as a slower runner. As someone who didn’t grow up sporty (I actually tried to avoid anything of the sort xx), I am still intimidated by running with other people and so I honestly didn’t really know what to expect going into my first parkrun. I asked you guys what you thought of it and OMG I don’t think I’ve ever had such a positive response about anything before 😂 Now I’ve done it, I kinda get the hype (although I would love it to be at 10am 😴). Everyone is truly there just to do their own thing, and I didn’t feel any judgement from anyone on my slower pace. There was no pressure to run the whole thing, or run at all with the last person finishing in over an hour. Little tip if you are a @runna user - you can store your parkrun barcode in the app and it’s super easy to set up! All jokes aside, I can see why parkrun is so popular. A parkrun hack I bet you didn’t know ⬇️ 🌳 I dont know about you but it I can never get my parkrun barcode up on my phone to be scanned! This hack has made my life so much easier 😅 To get your parkrun barcode on your Garmin watch…. ✨Download the Connect IQ app from the app store ✨Connect your watch in the app ✨Search for “parkrun barcode” in the app ✨Select the “park run barcode” ✨Wait for the app to install ✨Click Settings ✨Enter your athlete ID or parkrun ID, name, and emergency contact details ✨Click Save 

 Your watch should now display your parkrun barcode in the glances or widgets. There’s also a QR code that’s larger and easier to scan at parkrun.

180,000 people watched Isabelle's 5km PB video over the last 24 hours...she cannot believe it. As to give an idea of how much encouragement I give her, or how much I get involved here is a longer video without music. You'll see it's completely her. For the most part I run silently behind her puffing and panting....well until the end 😉 I've also dropped lots of answers to some of the questions in it, and her mile splits Isabelle also has a YouTube channel with loads of fun videos about her running aimed at parents and kids. To give some perspective on how big parkrun is, here are the stats from last weekends parkruns: Worldwide there were 2,164 parkruns plus 525 junior parkruns, 399,000 parkrunners plus 42,000 junior parkrunners, and 52,000 volunteers in total. ~33,000 people got their parkrun barcode this week (registered for parkrun). ~20,000 people became parkrunners this week ~5,700 parkrunners joined running milestone clubs (There are ~2000 who have done 500 or more parkruns!!!) ~ In the UK there were 876 parkruns vs. ~100 in the US The US makes up less than 5% of global parkruns!
