2025 wrapped with .. parkruns @parkrunuk Which map overlay do you recognize? 👀 18 new locations for me this year and it is now a serious Saturday morning addiction. It’s also dragged me to parks I didn’t know existed (or would’ve ever visited voluntarily). To give some perspective on how big parkrun is, here are the stats from last weekends parkruns: Worldwide there were 2,164 parkruns plus 525 junior parkruns, 399,000 parkrunners plus 42,000 junior parkrunners, and 52,000 volunteers in total. ~33,000 people got their parkrun barcode this week (registered for parkrun). ~20,000 people became parkrunners this week ~5,700 parkrunners joined running milestone clubs (There are ~2000 who have done 500 or more parkruns!!!) ~ In the UK there were 876 parkruns vs. ~100 in the US The US makes up less than 5% of global parkruns!

Saturday mornings will never be the same 🙌🏽 One year on and my mum has now completed parkruns in 3 different counties, she gets excited for pacer week and plans her weekends around her run! Parkruns are such a good way to keep fit and clear my mind after a long week. Today’s run at Plean was definitely more challenging than my usual one in Perth, but very enjoyable and a great community. @parkrunuk

I missed my marathon goal by 38 minutes! 👀 I’ve made a list of where I went wrong so you don’t have to! I ran all of my sessions and long runs alone, I wanted this goal so badly that I isolated myself from the world, I stopped going to parkruns, I stopped going to run clubs and track sessions, which made me feel so lonely and made running less and less enjoyable. One of the pillars of mental health is social connection! The running community IS THE BEST 💖 I had the mindset of “I have to” rather than “I get to” I put so much pressure on myself to achieve this goal, I made it feel as though training for it was punishment not pleasure! HELLO!!! Running is a HUGE privilege 💖 I neglected my strength training, the more I trained for the marathon, the less motivated I was to strength train! A STRONG body is essential to carry us through training for and running a marathon 💖 I stressed about things that were outside of my control! I worried about the weather, I worried about my TOTM. When running a marathon we can only control the controllable’s, worrying about the things we cannot control takes all the fun out of it and doesn’t serve any purpose 💖 I didn’t give myself enough time to recover from my previous marathon! Just because my body felt fine, I failed to acknowledge the HUGE toll a marathon has on the mind and the body! If we don’t take time to rest our body will take the time for us! The list goes on and on tbh 😂 but I thought I’d share some of these mistakes I made so that you don’t have to! What huge mistakes have you made whilst running a marathon???
