How to party Sober: Tip 1: Identify ad an extrovert even if it’s a lie at first. This will force you to develop the social skills without having any limiting beliefs in your way. I still like my alone time. Being alone gives me energy. But I used to say I was an introvert to avoid facing my social anxieties. Saying I’m an extrovert now helped. Tip 2: Build momentum throughout the night and start small. Focus on chatting with one person and a time and try to ignore everything else that’s happening in the room. Every small interaction is a win. Stack enough wins and you’ll have confidence through the roof by the end of the night. #sober #soberparty

i got sober the morning after my sister-in-law’s baby shower. i woke up so viciously hungover that even the classic “i’m never drinking again” felt different coming out of my mouth. there was a steadiness to it i hadn’t heard before. most mornings (and nights) felt exactly like that.. bloated, exhausted, eyes heavy, skin drying out, my body aging faster than i was living. nauseated, dizzy, trembling until i could get another drink in me. i remember thinking, “i’m too young to feel this old. i’m too attractive to look this twisted.” the plan wasn’t to quit. it was just to “slow down.” but the second i tried, i realized slow wasn’t a setting i had. it was everything or nothing… and “everything” was killing me. so i quit. i swapped the beers, canned cocktails, and whiskey for seltzer. Polar cans at home, club soda at work.. seven to ten a day, just keeping my hands busy. it didn’t feel noble. it felt like survival. then came the symptoms: eight straight days of vertigo where i couldn’t lift my head without the room spinning. work felt impossible. life felt insufferable. but the world didn’t stop moving, and neither could i. then to top it off, my husband left me (about six weeks in, to be exact). for a lot of people, that would’ve been the moment to fold. to retreat back into the numb. but something in me said that if i was suddenly living for myself, then i had to stay the course. i had to see who i could be without alcohol taking up all the space. and i did. the hardest days were the ones that built me. the mornings my body shook, the nights i had nothing to hide behind, the moments i felt abandoned. they became the proof that i could survive myself, by myself. sobriety doesn’t make my life easier, but it does make me stronger. and when i think about those first brutal weeks, i remember this: the hardest days prove i can save my own life, one morning at a time. thanks for reading 💛 . . . #sober #sobrietyjourney #sobernotboring #thanksforreading

Listen, I’m not a saint, and I’m not one of your parents, but this is a reality that a lot of you need to face, and I’m just giving you the truth I needed to hear to go sober and transform my life! 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲. However, some people need to hear it. A little tip: if you are struggling to quit drinking or if you are already sober and you’re struggling with the thought of again, ask yourself this question before you pick up the next bottle. “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺” That question will make you realize that everything that you use as a reason is bullshit, and you could just do it sober… #soberlifeisthebestlife

If sober people were honest… the early days would sound like this: “I love you, but I’m not coming.” “No, I don’t want to ‘just pop in’.” “It’s not you, it’s that my nervous system can’t do that room yet.” When I first got sober, I had to get ruthless about my environment. Not because I was boring, but because I was rebuilding. I wasn’t avoiding fun, I was protecting my progress. There’s a season where the safest plan is the quiet plan, and staying home is not antisocial, it’s recovery. I used to think saying no made me difficult. Now I see it as emotional maturity. Sobriety taught me that triggers aren’t a moral failing, they’re information. If a place, a group chat, a “quick drink,” or a late-night vibe puts you at risk, you don’t owe anyone access to you. Early sobriety is not the time to prove you’re fine, it’s the time to stay safe and get strong. If you’re in that season, I’m proud of you. Guard your peace like it’s part of the plan, because it is.
