Great strategy for helping to facilitate hip flexion, knee flexion, and ankle dorsiflexion in a weakened leg. I use this method with my patients who are recovering from a stroke or other neurological injury that impacts their ability to lift or swing their leg while walking. Physical Therapy Gait Training! ⚡Here is a fun trick to increase step length and clearance that involves no equipment! (Only a bar for safety!) In the first clip, the patient is able to clear the therapist's foot but still swings around with lots of leaning. In the next clip, her therapist is giving some assistance but also lots of cues! With the addition of the cues, the patient accomplished the following in her walking: ✅ Relaxed hip (was hiking) ✅ Increased knee flexion (quad spasticity lead to increased extension) ✅ No circumduction In all, this patient is learning how to relax her muscle tone and isolate the proper muscles in the proper order or get the right movement in her step! #therafitrehab #neurorehab #neurophysicaltherapy #strokerecovery #stroke
