Making the plaster figures only takes about 1 hour, but the full drying process takes up to 3 days. After that, the kits still need to be packed, shipped, and delivered from Florida to your home. I often have up to 10 kits in stock, but not always and not for every shape. I always start working on orders within the first 24 hours after purchase, but unfortunately I can’t speed up the drying process. I love what I do! Making things is the best feeling in the world. I’m really excited with how this new design turned out. To whoever invented the suction cup- you have my gratitude. Things that don’t work well for removing the silicone mold- shimmying, trying to wedge something between the plaster and silicone sides, upside down shaking. Although, the upside down shake does sometimes work, I find it to have side effects of anxiety. How to make plaster mold 🐈‍⬛ 반찬통으로 몰드 4개 떠버리기

I make all my own plaster molds from mostly wheel thrown forms. I like to start with simple shapes as I love adding my own individual touch to each piece, whether is studs or carved designs. My process to create a mold system: Once I perfect an original wheel thrown piece, I’ll create a plaster mold from it. Then we arrive to this point where I make a master mold of silicone from the plaster form, this allows me to make endless plaster molds for years to come. How to make a 1 part plaster mould! This is a longer reel but there are many steps and it’s really handy to see how it’s done (I learnt from watching other videos). I started off by making a thick, smooth, circular slab of clay about 1 cm wider than the rim of the bowl. This was so there’d be a small ‘shelf’ level with the rim. I put this on a wooden board. Next I positioned the bowl centrally and pressed it down a little into the clay to secure it and prevent it from floating once I poured the plaster. I don’t have the boards that fit together nicely, so I made a makeshift surround with boards that are the same size and sellotape. Then I pressed coils of clay around all the joints so no plaster would leak out. Next, I marked the level that I’d be pouring the plaster to. After that, I painted a thin layer of dishsoap on all of the exposed board and on the bowl. After that, I mixed up the plaster (wear a mask from before you open the bag of plaster!) I mix the plaster within a bin bag to make clean up easier - you can’t pour any plaster down the drain or you’ll block the pipes. You need to add the plaster to the water. I used the ‘Island’ method. I didn’t measure out the water or plaster, rather, I I added the plaster slowly and evenly into the whole container and once a little island had formed, I stopped adding plaster and started mixing. I mixed gently so I wouldn’t make too many air bubbles and once it was smooth, I poured the plaster into the space between the boards and the bowl (best not to pour directly on the piece you’re making a mould of) Plaster takes around 20 minutes to harden, depending on the density. During the chemical process it gets hot and then cools. Once it’s totally cold it’s generally ready to be opened. I opened the mould about 45 minutes later to be on the safe side. All that’s left was to sand the edges so they’re nice and rounded and smooth and then to thoroughly wash the mould. I let it dry out for two weeks before using it.
