Too invested to not make sure she survives. I’m trying to give this plant a chance to keep thriving… without it taking over my house. Root pruning is one way to do that. When a plant starts to outgrow its pot, you don’t always have to move it into a bigger container. Sometimes you can remove a portion of the roots and refresh the soil to give the plant more breathing room. It’s a simple process: • Start by gently removing the plant from the pot • Trim back no more that 30% of the bottom of the root ball. • Place in the same pot or a new one and and fresh soil to the pot. • Place the plant back in and water it in. This helps reset the root zone and can buy the plant more time in the same pot. Sometimes the goal isn’t a bigger plant… it’s a healthier one. #houseplants #propagation #plants monstrofarm

I waited a long time to get this Pink Princess… And when I finally brought her home I realized something, I ended up with two more plants from the original pot. This one needed two repots though. Here’s what I did: • After separating her from the others, I mixed a well-draining soil that still holds enough moisture to keep her happy. • I placed her in a sturdy clear pot and carefully centered the plant. • Then I backfilled the soil and gently compacted it. • The clear pot lets me see exactly what’s happening with the roots, so I water when the soil is about 50% dry. A few months later the plant fell from the shelf and I had to repot her again. This time adding a cedar plank to give her some support as she grows. Plant propagation can feel like a rollercoaster! I often hear the struggles of propagating plants and how it looks easy online. Although, yes, propagating certain plants can be easy it doesn’t come with its share of issues. For my Monstera Deliciosa, forgetting to change the water caused a pause to my cuttings growth. When propagating, being aware that things might not always go to plan is a start to growing confidence with plants.

Too involved to not make sure this works. Trying to give this propagation a second chance. So I decided to not only hang up Jade leaves that were snipped off the stem, but also try to pluck a few and hang them on the string as well. The process of doing this is actually pretty simple: -Just grab a Jade Plant, this time I I was lucky enough to find this beautiful one Lowe’s. -Carefully remove the bottom leaves so the Mother plant still looks great. -Grab some fishing line and poke tiny holes into each leaf. -Then place them in a dome with a cup of water inside to increase the humidity and wait it out.
