Check out the longest snake on the planet, the reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus). The longest confirmed individual was 7.67 metres in length, however rumours exist of animals over 10 metres. It should be noted that reticulated pythons feeding on humans is extremely rare, and generally only occurs on the island of Sulawesi, as this is where the largest snakes are on average. These guys are true masters of constriction, using their massive bodies to wrap and then asphyxiate prey items. Interestingly there is an introduced population of reticulated pythons on the island of Puerto Rico, which has originated due to releases from the pet trade. These snakes are SO good at finding your neck! They instinctively know that if they can coil around a predator's neck, they can stop the attack by choking the predator out. In this scenario, the branches and dense vegetation did not allow me to stand up so I was forced to fight the whole battle on the ground.
