These are the essential tips on how to Choose a Research Topic⬇️ . . 1️⃣Choose a topic you genuinely care about. You’ll be spending hours reading writing and thinking about this so make sure to its something that interests you. Curiosity will carry you through when motivation fades. 2️⃣Make sure there are enough reliable sources. Before settling on a topic, do a quick search on Goodle Scholar or your school’s library database. If you can’t find enough credible material, your paper will be harder to write (and weaker overall). 3️⃣Narrow it down-don’t stay too broad. A vague topic like “technology in education” is too wide to tackle in one paper. Instead, zoom in: “How mobile learning apps affect student focus In college classrooms” is more manageable and specific. 4️⃣Check if it fits the assignment guidelines. A topic can be interesting but still completely wrong for your task. Review the instructions word count, subject area, required sources-to make sure your idea aligns with what’s expected. 5️⃣Avoid topics that are too technical or niche. (if you’re not familiar with them). It’s tempting to pick something that sounds impressive, but if you can’t explain it simply,. writing about it will be frustrating. Choose a topic that challenges you without overwhelming you. 6️⃣Talk through your topic idea with someone. Explaining your topic to a classmate, tutor, or professor can help you spot contusion or gaps in your thinking. If it’s hard to describe out loud, it may need more clarity. 7️⃣Write a working title or research question. Turning your topic into a one-sentence question or title helps sharpen your focus. If you can’t do that yet, your idea may still be too fuzzy or broad. . . . If you find this helpful then hit follow and stay a while🫰🏻♥️ . . . Struggling to choose a research topic? 🤯 Here’s the secret most students ignore 👇 1️⃣ Start with Curiosity Ask yourself: What do I actually care about? What frustrates me? What do I want to understand better? 2️⃣ Brainstorm it Out Mind maps. Keyword lists. Free writing. Get messy first, refine later. 3️⃣ Read the Literature 📚 Look for gaps → What’s missing? What hasn’t been answered? Where are researchers disagreeing? 4️⃣ Check Feasibility Do you have the time, tools, access, and participants needed? Be realistic, not optimistic. 5️⃣ Make Sure Sources Exist Search Google Scholar, ResearchGate, JSTOR, PubMed. If there’s no data → the topic is not your friend 😅 6️⃣ Get Feedback Early Ask your mentor / professor / peers. Early feedback saves weeks of headache. Trust me. 7️⃣ Aim for Relevance & Impact Your topic should matter → connect to real problems, ongoing debates, or policies. 8️⃣ Stay Flexible It’s okay if your topic changes. That’s part of research growth ✨ --- Save this for later 🔖 Share with someone struggling to choose a topic 💬 Follow for more research tips & hacks 🧠📑 #researchtips #thesiswriting #dissertationhelp #studentlife #academia #mastersstudents #phdlife #researchmotivation #literaturereview #academicwriting #studygram #psychologystudent #collegehacks #researchmethodology (Good marks, study aesthetic, good grades, final exam, report card day, praying, relatable memes, relatable study memes , relatable reels , study reels, edit, content creator, struggle, grades, study motivation, study quotes, academic validation, study aesthetics, genius, student, academic, teaching, researcher, mentor, psychology, college)

1. Rule out the last 5 years’ topics As I’ve always said, start by going through the thesis topics from the past 5 years in your department and strike them off. These topics cannot be repeated, so this step is non-negotiable and saves you a lot of last-minute stress. 2. Choose a topic that genuinely interests you Always try to work on a topic you are truly interested in. You’ll be spending months on it, and genuine interest is what keeps you motivated. Once you identify your area of interest, explore potential topics within that domain itself. 3. Do a focused literature search Now that you have an area in mind, start searching for articles related to it. You can use free tools like PubMed, Research Rabbit, and Elicit AI, or even Jenni AI (paid, but worth it). I already have tutorials on these tools, so do check them out. Pro tip: carefully read the discussion and conclusion sections of articles, this is where authors usually mention research gaps. That gap can become your inspiration for a new research topic. 4. Take inspiration from previous years’ topics If selecting a topic feels difficult, you can always take inspiration from earlier thesis topics and modify them. This can be done by changing the time frame, studying a different population, or doing a more detailed analysis of a specific subgroup. 5. Prefer a familiar department You’ll be running around a lot for data collection and permissions. If you’re familiar with a department or the people involved, always give such topics priority,it makes data collection smoother and far less stressful. 📌 Part-1 of my “How to do your Thesis / Dissertation” series Detailed videos and tips coming soon on YouTube—subscribe to stay updated. Here are the prompts for literature review ✅ . Purpose: To move from “reviewing literature” → building a defensible conceptual framework. Prompt: Act as a senior research mentor and help me build a theory-driven synthesis of the literature on [insert topic]. From each study, extract the core constructs, theoretical assumptions, and proposed or tested relationships between variables. Identify how constructs are defined differently across studies and where conceptual overlap or ambiguity exists. Next, integrate the literature to: (1) map construct–construct relationships, (2) identify dominant and missing theoretical linkages, (3) distinguish antecedents, mediators, moderators, and outcomes, and (4) evaluate which theories are overused, underused, or misapplied. Based on this synthesis, propose a coherent conceptual framework that logically integrates constructs and relationships grounded in prior literature while clearly showing how my study extends existing theory. Present the output as a conceptual mapping table followed by a theory-driven narrative that I can directly convert into a conceptual framework section of my thesis or paper. . Purpose: To justify why a particular method, design, and analysis is appropriate—based on literature. Prompt: Act as a methodological expert and help me analyze how prior studies on [insert topic] have designed their research. For each study, extract details on research design, data type, sample characteristics, measurement instruments, and analytical techniques. Critically evaluate methodological patterns, dominant approaches, and recurring weaknesses (e.g., small samples, cross-sectional designs, single-source bias). Compare quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method approaches used in the field and assess their suitability for different research questions. Based on this review, help me justify my chosen methodology by explicitly linking gaps in prior methods to my research design choices. Present the output as a methodological comparison table and a written justification that I can directly use in my methodology chapter or research design section. . #phd #aitool
