Meh… 😒 When you are working with a Demi permanent colour remember 👉🏻 it behaves like lip gloss👄 Whatever tone you’ve just lifted the hair to? It shines through your gloss, always!!! 3 Tips for a Seamless Root Shadow EVERY TIME 👇🏼 1. Include the cowlick: Pull your comb farther back to the crown to include the cowlick section. This will make sure that everything stays cohesive and eliminates any disconnect in the angled placement of the root shadow. 🙌🏻 2. Horizontal sections: While both vertical and horizontal sections work, I prefer horizontal because it keeps sections clean with no risk of color transfer. This allows me to see exactly where to shadow and drag for perfect cohesiveness!!! 3. Smudge with every section: As I apply the root shadow, I smudge with my wet brush (or Unbrush) after each section for a smooth blend. After letting the root shadow sit for about 5 minutes, I go back with my gloss and blend them both together. 3 common root shadow mistakes you could make! ❌ Formulating with permanent colour! Unless covering grey I will always use a semi/ demi permanent colour for root shadows. A permanent colour will shift your clients natural base and expose unwanted warmth leaving them with a glowy root colour and a harsh regrowth ❌ Not brushing through the hair enough! By not brushing through the root colour enough you could end up leaving a line in the hair and the bend will not look great. You can never brush through to much using a wet brush, I will always use my fingers to blend even more after 🙌🏽 ❌ Not formulating your colour correctly! It is sooo important to formulate your colour right for your clients hair and it’s not one colour fits all! You need to consider whether you are trying to soften, blend or eliminate your foil lines. When trying to soften I will go one shade lighter, when blending I will use the same level as my clients hair and when eliminating them I will go one shade darker👏🏼 My top tip is to always formulate one shade darker than the desired shade when applying on damp hair! Save for later and follow for more tips ✨
