sled pull 101: HINGE/SNAP/WALK IT BACK sled pull technique matters more than strength. most athletes gas their arms or quad because they treat the sled pull like solely as a upper-body OR lower body exercise when you should be using your entire body for power here’s how I coach it: HINGE: sit the hips back and stay low so you can use your glutes and keep your core engaged. This puts you in a strong position instead of yanking with your biceps. SNAP: pull the rope fast and tight toward your body, engaging your lats and trunk. The power comes from your back and hips, not your arms. WALK IT BACK: as you pull, walk your feet back to keep constant tension on the rope. No slack means smoother sled movement and less wasted effort. when you simplify the movement into these three cues, the sled moves better, your arms last longer, and you’re not wrecked heading into the next run. Hinge. Snap. Walk it back 🫡 @hyroxca . . . #hyroxtraining #sledpull #hyroxworkout #hyroxtips #hyroxathlete

Save this for training your HYROX Sled Pull and remember it isn’t really a pull. Especially if you are moving the pro weight. Most people waste time training the wrong muscles for this station. The HYROX sled pull is a full-body movement powered by your posterior chain, grip, and core stability. Think less arms, more hip drive and control as you drag it backwards. If you’re not walking under load, you’re not preparing properly. Sled Pull Technique Breakdown 🪢🔥 Sled Pull Technique – how to move the sled efficiently and save energy 👇 The key to a clean Sled Pull is constant rope tension. Keep the rope tight and regrip as far forward as possible every time. Then, bend your knees and slightly shift your weight backward. That small lean initiates movement — without wasting upper body strength. Once the sled is rolling, take four quick steps back to keep the motion going efficiently. Your arms stay locked and fixed, pulling only at the end to grab a few extra centimeters. 💡 This way you stay in control, save energy, and keep the sled moving smoothly — no brute force needed. #hyroxtraining #sledpull #hyroxtechnique #hyroxathlete #hyroxger

the one cue that will save your sled push most people grab the top of the pole and wonder why they’re dying. the problem is not your fitness. it’s your physics. 1. high hands tilt your torso forward — when your hands are at the top of the pole, your centre of mass shifts forward and over the sled. you lose the ability to load your legs and end up pushing with your upper body instead. that is an exhausting way to move a heavy sled. 2. lower hands change your body angle — dropping your hands brings your hips back and down. now your body is in a position where your glutes and quads can actually fire. you are driving the sled, not falling into it. 3. think push the ground, not the sled — once your hands are lower and your hips are loaded, the cue is simple. drive the ground away from you with every step. the sled moves as a result of that, not because you are muscling it forward with your arms. same weight. same fitness. completely different experience. . . . . #HYROX #HYROXtraining #sledpush #HYROXcoach #functionalfitness

HYROX sled pull tip🤝🏽 Arms stay long. Lean back and use your bodyweight, not your biceps. Walk it back with controlled steps, the rope just connects you to the sled. Bending the arms wastes energy and kills efficiency! Hope this helps, now go and train for an easy sled👊🏽 #hyrox #sledpull #tip #efficiency

Tbh… I’ve been out here trying to rip the sled with my arms only 💀 No lean, no leg drive, just pure “upper-body hero” energy I just spammed: - Face pulls - Conventional deadlifts - Trap bar deadlifts - Sled pull arms only with heavy weight If you’re out here arm-yanking the sled too, welcome to the party 😂 #sledpull #hyroxtraining #gymjourney #fitnessrealness #functionaltraining #gymtips #strengthtraining #conditioningworkout #fitnesstechnique #trainwithpurpose

One pull at a time…. • You can’t pull the whole sled in one go. You have to take chunks. One (effective & efficient) pull. Reset. Go again. • Yes, this applies to so many areas of our lives. We all know success isn’t going to happen in a day or week or month. Keep your head down, one pull at time, no matter what you’re going after👊🏼 • What are you taking chunks out of right now??

Not sure which sled push technique to use? Try all three, understand your strengths, and see which position feels most sustainable, and performs best for you. There’s no single “right” way. There’s the right way for the load and for your body🔥 #hyrox

My secret Sled Push strategy ⬇️⚡️ This is the exact strategy I use in a Hyrox Women Pro race and yes, it’s different from Open!! When I enter the sled push, I don’t try to be a hero.🙃 I push half a lane, stop, take 3 deep breaths, no matter how much my legs are burning then I push the next half lane. From there, my real strategy starts. ☝🏼❤️🔥⬇️ I use small, fast steps and I always count in my head. I count 13 steps, then I take 3 deep breaths. Then I go again: 13 steps, 3 breaths. You can test this in training and find your own number. For example, 15 steps + 3 breaths can also work well. What matters most: ➡️ Take short, controlled breaks instead of pushing a full lane nonstop. If you go too far without stopping, lactate builds up fast and that’s when it really hurts. 🥹 After your 3 breaths, move immediately. Waiting longer won’t help your legs and will only cost you time. 🔁 These four lanes will hurt that’s unavoidable. But sticking to your strategy makes the pain manageable. 🤞🏼 13 small steps. 3 breaths. Repeat. ❤️🔥 One more key point: Stay low in the sled, lock your ankles, keep your knees bent.Your legs stay tight, no unnecessary calf stretch, just short, powerful, fast steps. My goal is to help you get better and race smarter 🔥 #hyrox #hyroxtips #hyroxstrategy #hyroxworld #running

You’re wasting time on the sled pull every time you drop the rope and reset Every pause kills your momentum Every time you pick the rope up… that’s extra work you didn’t need to do Stay seated, stay tight, and keep feeding the rope through your hands One smooth, continuous pull It’s actually more efficient, less energy, and you’ll find a rhythm that almost becomes addictive You’re not thinking… you’re just moving That’s how you get through this station without blowing up If you want to clean up your sled work and move like this in a race DM “HYBRID” and I’ll show you how 👊 #hyrox #sled #pull #fitness #explore
