Are you getting big holes at the underarms on your top-down sweaters? 🧶 Try this method to avoid them: Knit up the underarm stitches. At the body/sleeve junction, pick up 2 loops: one back to front, one front to back, then knit the sleeve sts. Pick up 2 loops the same way and knit up remaining underarm sts. On the next round, eliminate the extra loops: slip the last st before the junction knitwise, slip the first loop purlwise, knit together through the back loop (improved SSK), then knit the next st together with the remaining loop. (This loop will be twisted, and therefore it may be hard to get your needle into these stitches…) Tighten your yarn. Voilà!

3-needle cast off An easy way to join #knitted pieces, ideal for shoulder seams 🧶🙌❤️

Just discovered a fun easy to make design feature - raised knit stitches! This is super easy to knit, and creates almost like an i-cord in the middle of round! If you want to knit this in flat in stockinette, then row 2 would be normal purl stitches. What do you think? Follow @thelooptheory_ for more knitting tips!

You don't have to have a stepped slope in your shoulder shaping cast offs 👀 Little knitting tricks like this aren't usually included in patterns because they'd get way too complex. But these little tricks elevate your knitting! #knittingtips #knittingtricks #knittingtechniques #knittingtutorial

A great technique from @pattyjlyons to help you in your knitting. This one could be a game changer. BOOKMARK IT - AHHH I forgot a decrease. Not going to lie - this happens to me all the time when doing sweater shaping. I put in my decrease as the start of the row, but by the time I’m at the end of the row, I forget. NOW, to avoid that, I use a vertical marking thread at the start of the row, put in my decrease, and then immediately put in a locking stitch marker at the end of the row where I’m supposed ot put in the decrease. This wakes me up. But . . . there are times when you buzz right past a decrease. No stress, just drop and pop! Drop down and pop in the fix.

Without getting into too many details, slipping stitches inaccurately in a knitted project will likely change the texture and appearance of your fabric. This can be as simple as rearranging by slipping a stitch one way or another in a decrease for a smooth/flatter decrease, or slipping the edge stitch of your fabric for a selvedge! Its good (arguably important) to know and understand the direction you’re slipping your knit stitches :) You will also need to slip stitches accurately in your setup rows for a sewn Italian bind off on most sweaters you knit! Happy knitting! #knittersofinstagram #knitting #strikke #sweaterknitting #knittingtips

A folded hem creates a very neat and tidy edge 🙌 Here, I’ve used a provisional cast-on, so I have two sets of live stitches that I can easily #knit together with the 3-needle join 🧶

Fixing an (un)twisted knit stitch (ktbl) If you’ve ever stared at untwisted knit stitch when it should be twisted stitch and quietly hoped no one would notice, this is your sign to learn how to fix it. Drilling down can feel intimidating but once you understand stitch orientation it becomes so much less scary. The magic is not in the tool. It’s in how the loop is mounted before you knit it back up. You are absolutely capable of fixing your knitting. And the confidence that comes from that is everything. 🧶✨ Featured is my Iverine sweater test knit for @valentinasknits Yarn is @purlsoho DK cone in Bright Jade #knittingtutorial #knittingtips #learntoknit
