I like to learn different ways of doing things, partly because it’s less wear and tear on my body to be able to switch methods out and it’s good for our brains to keep learning. Many years ago I tried a Norwegian knitting thimble and never got the hang of it, I tried it again about a year ago and haven’t looked back. I still knit colorwork with one color in each hand on certain projects but I do find the thimble helps me keep my tension even without much effort to do so. It usually feels awkward when I’m first learning a new technique so I choose a project that’s easy and I’m not too invested in to practice on. Is there a new technique or tool that you’ve added or want to add to your knitting repertoire? How I knit 3-stranded colorwork, continental style, no tools! . Insert one finger between each strand. Remember that your dominant color (the color you want to "pop") goes on the bottom. . Trap floats every 5th(ish) stitch of that color by going over or under the strand you need to catch on your way to the strand you are knitting. . Working on my own design, coming this year! My first three pairs of stranded colorwork socks ended up too tight, because even after I heard about knitting them inside out, I stubbornly refused to do it. It all changed when I finally did it. It changed the fit so much! Then later adding in Ladderback Jacquard to my skills was the icing on the cake. I finally knew how to make colorwork stretchy! Spent all my wool wash budget on yarn, so I used my regular shampoo and a hair mask to soak this sweater overnight. The wool absolutely bloomed after blocking and filled in any uneven stitches or tension issues.
