Two-handed stranded knitting - Catching floats This is how to catch the dominant yarn (i.e. the one you are holding to the left) in two-handed knitting. Hi everyone! Thank you SO much for all the love on yesterday’s post—those float compliments totally made my day! 🥰 I had a bunch of you ask for a peek into my colorwork technique, so here’s a little breakdown of my style for stranded knitting: I hold both yarns in my right hand, one pinched between my index and thumb, and the other tucked between my third and fourth fingers. I use bamboo needles to help the yarn ‘stick’ a bit, which gives me more control when I lift my right hand to wrap the working yarn around. It’s a bit of a dance, and after years of practice, it’s become a pretty fluid movement. If you’re trying this, don’t feel like you have to do it exactly the same way! Everyone’s hands move a little differently, so experiment and find what feels comfortable for you. Remember, there’s no ‘right’ way to knit—only your way! 😉 And when all else fails? Block that beauty, and it’ll smooth right out. 💪🧶 Happy knitting! 💖✨ #knitstagram #howiknit #colorwork #strandedknitting #knitlove

Actually, I knit the Saskie Jumper like six months ago, but my point still stands lmao everything you’re confused or scared about when it comes to colorwork is literally allll on youtube. Learn how to read charts and how to hold your yarns and you’ll be totally fine jumping in to your first colorwork sweater. I also 100% recommend this Halibut Sweater if you’re a beginner with colorwork because the chart is SOOO easy to read. 🥰 #knitting #knitwear #knittinginspo #knitstagram #knitsweater #handknit #halibutsweater

Colour work - the only time I do contential knitting 🌷 Usually when I do colour work I end up dropping on the of colours and picking up the next, but when there are only 1-2 stitches across, I tend to work with both at the same time ✌🏻 Tip: Place the different balls of yarn on opposite sides to pretend tangling. I like to keep the colour that should be dominate colour on me left, since it gets carried under the other colour to make pop Currently on my needles: Tiptoe through the Tulips by @stoneknits Yarn: @sandnesgarn Sisu
