A few of you asked how I trap my floats when I’m doing colorwork with my ring — so here’s a little explanation! 🧶✨ The ring itself doesn’t change the technique, it just keeps my strands separated and makes everything smoother. When I’m trapping my dominant color, I do it exactly like without a ring: 🧵 Stitch before the trap: needle goes over the dominant strand 🧵 The trap itself: needle goes under the dominant strand, catch the working yarn, pull through 🧵 Stitch after the trap: needle goes over the dominant strand again Simple, neat, and keeps long floats secure without messing up tension 🤍🩵 #colourwork #knittingtutorial #knittinghacks

Genious knitting hack? Look no further! When knitting #colourwork , twisting yarns to catch floats annoyed me big time, especially when using more than two colours! I just HAD to find another way and since I tried the following, I never went back: 1. knit first row/round in pattern as usual 2. In the next row, knit in pattern until the middle of the float you created in the row/round before 3. Pick up the float and knit it together with your current stitch. That’s it! 🥳 The float is now secure but not stuck! it’s rather gently hugged and guided and won’t take away any stretchyness. I hope this helps and makes your knitting less finicky and more flowy! #strandedknitting #colourworkknitting #fairisleknitting #sockknitting #knittinghack

A lovely day spent sewing and blocking a garment that I made nearly 6 months ago 😬 This is my first colourwork design, but it’s unfortunately laid stagnant as I try to work out some little knacks. I always find it hard to start a new style such as colourwork or cables and it’s why I always delay the release of my patterns. I’ve quietly been creating some colourwork beanies in the mean time that some of my crafter friends have tested and this has given me so much more confidence in this style!
