A new era begins today... welcome to “Le Freak Chic” on @substack ✍🏼 When people ask me what I do for a living, my immediate response is, ‘I’m a writer,’ because that’s, in truth, what I’ve always considered myself to be. I’ve also considered myself to be so many other things, which this channel has been a mix of all over the last fifteen years. However, the part I love the most is the writing. It allows me to share a deeper level of vulnerability—one that I have always hoped could help women around me understand they are not alone in this world. Today, right now, at this desk, I’m thrilled to launch “Le Freak Chic” on Substack with bi-weekly posts. One part personal oversharing, one part fun and fabulous style, because no one can be serious all the time. Le Freak Chic is a place I can swim in the deepest end of the vulnerability pool without a moment’s hesitation for “sharing too much.” Because let’s be honest… the internet can be a scary place to air your mental laundry. The first post is now live! You can also listen to me read it to you… for those who are just here for the ASMR ;) Please know this doesn’t mean I’ll be showing up any differently or any less here. ✋ “I can’t find anyone to give feedback on my book!” I’ve got you covered! 📝 Whether you’re stuck on your first draft or need some extra eyes before querying, here are some amazing (and FREE) places to get feedback on your writing: 1️⃣ Critique Partner Connection (CPC): This is my free online database where writers can connect with critique partners in their genre. Find someone who gets your story and is just as eager to swap feedback! (Drop “JOINCPC” in the comments, and I’ll send you the link to sign up!) 🤝💬 2️⃣ Writergram: There’s an entire side of Instagram where writers are EVERYWHERE, and there are so many who would love to help! Don’t be afraid to reach out in comment sections or DMs—this community is full of people ready to give valuable feedback. 📲✨ 3️⃣ Google Forms: Send out a Google Forms application to everyone you know! Ask your friends to share it too. It’s an easy way to find beta readers who are going to be a good fit for you and your book. 📝✅ 4️⃣ Facebook groups: There’s a Facebook group for everything, and writing + critique groups are no exception! Find a group in your genre, join, and start connecting with potential critique partners and beta readers that way. 📚🌐 5️⃣ Friends & family: Sometimes the people closest to you can offer great insights, but I’ll warn you… you have to be mindful that their feedback might not always be objective. That said, they can still offer helpful perspectives, especially if they’re avid readers! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦📖 💡 Finding feedback is all about knowing where to look—and these sources are a great start!
