Tight traps? Save this 🔥 Just won’t give up, no matter how much stretching you’re doing? Try this instead. In this move we’re actually loading the muscle and and then making it lengthen under tension (eccentric load) this provides some strength plus length. You don’t need a crazy heavy weight to reap the benefits here- pick something manageable and take it slow your first go. Aim for 12-15 reps and repeat it a couple times. Stretch Your Tight Traps Time and time again, I keep coming back to this stretch simply because of just how ridiculously effective it is at not only loosening up the shoulders and rear delts but MAINLY hitting those pesky tight traps. Tight traps are an absolute menace and they unfortunately are unavoidable given our daily routines. They constantly need work and very few stretches hit them as effectively as this! Now, this stretch has 2 steps: 1 - First you need to attack those rear delts by letting that band pull your arm across your body. Remember the band is doing all the work, just load up a ton of tension and relax into it, the longer you hold it the more it works! Even just hitting this position will do a ton for you if you have jacked up shoulders and rotator cuffs so I always try to make sure I do this one first before jumping into step 2. 2 - Now hit those TRAPS! All you need to do is continue spinning into the band as you wind up more tension and try to position your hand near your pocket and fall over the band. This will create that downward pulling angle you will need to start ripping on those traps. This small change in position will really relocate the stretch up the shoulder into the traps and neck. And once you get it, you’ll definitely feel it! All in all, both positions are super valuable and you should definitely throw this stretch into your warm up next time you’re hitting shoulders.
