🏃♂️ Why treadmill running can be BETTER than outdoors Most runners see treadmills as a “last resort” — but the science says they can be a powerful tool if used right. Here’s why: 1️⃣ Controlled environment → No wind, rain, or uneven terrain. Lets you lock into exact paces without external variables. 2️⃣ Precise pacing → Perfect for marathon pace work. Holds you accountable so you don’t drift too fast or too slow. 3️⃣ Reduced impact → Softer surface lowers eccentric loading → less muscle damage vs concrete/asphalt. 4️⃣ Custom gradients → Easy way to build strength with steady uphill running, or mimic race course elevation. 5️⃣ Heat & humidity training → Indoors = no airflow → raises core temp, boosts blood plasma volume (like heat training). 6️⃣ Mental focus → Teaches you to hold pace with no scenery or distractions — great for building mental toughness. 7️⃣ Pro-approved → Even Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen uses treadmills to hit precise paces year-round. ✅ Use treadmills strategically: marathon pace long runs, controlled intervals, or heat training blocks. They’re not a replacement for outdoors — but a weapon to make you stronger.

Not even 1 outdoor run… I spent the last 40 days running only on a treadmill… and it accidentally became one of the best training blocks I’ve ever had. For context: where I live it’s been brutally cold and snowy. I’m talking zero runnable roads. For the first 40 days of this marathon block I literally didn’t run outside once. Every mile was on the treadmill. Here’s what actually happened 👇 🏃♂️ My pacing got way more efficient Treadmill running forces you to lock into a pace and stay there. No coasting, no random surges. That consistency cleaned up my rhythm and made marathon effort feel smoother and more controlled. 🧠 My mental toughness skyrocketed Long treadmill runs are boring. There’s no scenery, no distractions. Just you and the belt. Learning to sit in discomfort for miles builds a different kind of discipline that carries straight into race day. 🔥 Heat adaptation became a hidden advantage Running indoors, especially during long workouts, builds tolerance to heat and discomfort. When I finally get back outside in cooler air, everything feels easier and more manageable. 📈 My aerobic fitness didn’t suffer at all If anything, it improved. Consistent mileage without worrying about ice, wind, or footing meant fewer interruptions and more quality sessions stacked week after week. 🦵 Lower impact, better durability The treadmill’s softer surface helped me absorb high mileage with less pounding. That meant I could recover faster and stay consistent without feeling beat up. The biggest takeaway? Perfect conditions don’t build fitness. Consistency does. Whether it’s a treadmill, a track, or the road, the work still counts if you show up and execute. If your environment isn’t ideal right now, don’t use it as an excuse. Adapt and keep moving. 👉 Comment “RECOVERY” if you want my FREE recovery guide to stay consistent and run faster.

The benefits of running on the treadmill: 1. Controlled environment - You don't have to worry about the wind/rain/cold, so it's much easier to be consistent with your paces and assess your progress in the same environment. 2. Controlled effort - It’s very easy to adjust your effort and be precise. You can change the speed and incline to get your training pace as specific as possible 3. Reduced risk - Running outside can come with its challenges. Twisting ankles on curbs or tree roots, slipping on ice, and getting hit by a car are all realistic consequences. The biggest issue you'll have on the treadmill is boredom. 4. Heat exposure - Most of the time training on the treadmill is hot. Meaning you’re exposed to warmer temperatures which has been shown to provide a lot of endurance benefits (providing you keep hydrated)

BEGIN TO LOVE CARDIO 🥰 Your heart is a muscle!! Train it just like you would your others 🫶🏼 To summarise: 1) 5-10 minute jog 2) 10-15 sprints (30 seconds on 10 seconds off) 3) 5 minute jog (can turn into a fast pace walk to get heart rate back down) Of course to fuel my run I used @oxyshredenergy ‘Guava Paradise’ flavour 🥰 use my code: DBWORKOUTS for ££ off your order! @oneractive #run #treadmill #sprint #intervaltraining #fatburn #fatburningworkout #oxyshred #ehplabs #fypage #foryou #explore #trendingreels #explorepage✨

TREADMILL RUNNING: don’t stay too close to the front!!! I love my treadmill - especially during these cold winter months. Last week I went on the treadmill 3 days in a row (which I usually never do) and noticed my shoulders felt sore and tired. It took me a minute to realize I was running WAY too close to the front of the treadmill (I just naturally drifted up) which caused me to subconsciously raise my shoulders to avoid hitting the treadmill with my hands. It’s a simple solution - make sure you run towards the middle of the treadmill. Of course you have to make sure the treadmill is the right length for you (some with longer legs need to be careful) but the majority of us would benefit from remembering this simple solution! Any treadmill runners out there feel the same happens to them? Lmk in the comments! #treadmillrunner #treadmilltips #runnersofinstagram

Incline Treadmill Running This mornings session: Warm up: 2km Jog Main session: 1 minute 8% incline run 1 minute rest x10 Cool down: 2km jog Since I’m recovering from an injury, I kept this session very reserved. Over the weeks volume and intensity will increase.

“Slow down to get faster.” Not sure where or when I heard this quote, but it stuck. I’m no endurance pro but one of the best things I ever did for my endurance training was learn about heart rate zones. If you want to get faster, most of your workouts should be zone 2 workouts (60-70% max HR) and then a zone 4 workout (80-90% max HR) once a week. Do this for a couple months and you’ll be hitting PRs left and right. #cardio #fitness #fitnesstips #weightlosstips #cardioworkout #cardioworkouts #endurancetraining #personaltrainer #trainer #fitnessjourney #fitnesslifestyle #cardioexercises #treadmillworkout #treadmillrunning #treadmillchallenge
