Someone asked if there are ways to improve your executive function if you grew up in poverty or experienced other kinds of trauma or discrimination. YES! These are free or as close to free as possible, and only require a few minutes on google to get 1,000,000 ideas. None of these are quick fixes, they require both commitment and self-compassion (for when you miss a day, feel like you screwed up, etc.) Be kind to yourself! You’re doing the best you can. ♥️ #socialjustice #antiracism #endpoverty #publichealth #executivefunction

Which executive functioning skill do you struggle most with? For me it’s that shower with a hair wash. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE a good shower, it’s just all of the steps around it that make it seem like SUCH a chore. ADHD often brings along a disruptive force called executive dysfunction, which hampers our ability to plan, organize, and initiate tasks. So, when it comes to something as seemingly simple as showering, executive dysfunction delights in throwing obstacles our way. Distractions become irresistible temptations, diverting our attention from the bathroom and into the abyss of our racing thoughts. Time seems to warp, transforming minutes into seemingly endless hours as we succumb to procrastination. The mere thought of starting a task can trigger a surge of overwhelming emotions, often leading us to avoid it altogether. #executivedysfunction #adhd #audhd #asd #autism #neurodivergent #mentalhealthawareness

What if the biggest predictor of success isn’t IQ—but executive functioning skills? Research shows that strong executive functioning skills can be a more powerful indicator of life success than IQ scores or even socioeconomic status. These skills are the foundation for how we navigate challenges, manage responsibilities, and achieve goals—both in school and beyond. When we work with students, we start with five core competencies: Organizing. Planning. Prioritizing. Starting and completing tasks. Adapting when things don’t go as planned. These aren’t just academic tools. They’re life tools. Are we giving students the real skills they need to thrive long after graduation? @nbcnewsnow @nbc @todayshow @nbcnews @msnbc #education #learning #nbcnews

Executive communication sounds scary 😬 but it's simpler than you think. Interestingly, the principles of a👌🏼TikTok video apply directly to how you communicate with senior leaders in your company. Here's why: 1️⃣Time efficiency: You’ve got about 15-30s in a TikTok video to communicate to someone that you’ve got something to share, that they need to listen to. Same for execs. You always have less time with them, so all your comms need to be waaaay more concise. 2️⃣ Context: Executives have a broad perspective. Their view is from a higher altitude. Connect *your* topic to *their* priorities and problems they’re trying to solve. ✨ Tips ✨ 👉🏼 Quickly establish what you’re actually talking about and why they should care. It’s called the “What” and “So What” (aka why is this important to them, what big thing does your update connect to). 👉🏼 Start with the conclusion (the key takeaway, the answer, the request you have of them). Don’t take them on a journey. They don’t need all the details (and they’re very good at asking if they do). Get right to the meat. 👉🏼 Start simple (practice explaining you’re thing like you would to a smart 12 yo). It’s counterintuitive (surely I need to sound as smart and complex as possible!) but remember, they’re across 20, 30, 40 different topics and problems at any time for the business. No one ever gets upset by simple, clear and human communication. 👉🏼 Know what your ask is. What do you actually want them to do? By when? Be specific. 👉🏼 Don’t be scared — it’s just a person who was young once too and good leaders will remember exactly how it feels to be in your shoes and be nervous. 👉🏼If they rush you or sound direct/short, they ‘re probably not trying to be rude. If you hear them saying “yup, yup, yup” (it’s called chirping) it might mean that they know what you're talking about and you have permission to get to the point / cut some of the details. #executivecommunication #leadership #careeradvice #communicationtips #businessskills #successtips #careergrowth #personaldevelopment #genz #youngprofessionals #earlycareer #corporategirl #careeradvice #communicationskills

AuDHD is one of the most misunderstood profiles… because people focus on behavior instead of what’s underneath. What they see: Resistance Inconsistency Big reactions What’s actually happening: Overwhelm Executive function load Sensory input Emotional intensity And when those pieces aren’t understood… it gets labeled as attitude or defiance. But when you understand what’s underneath, your response changes. Less correction More support If you’re trying to shift that approach, comment ALIGN and I’ll send you something that helps. And if this helped you reframe behavior, pass it along. This one changes how you see a lot 🤍 #audhd #neurodivergentkids #parentingtools #adhdandautism #regulation

Executive presence isn’t just how you show up. It’s the tone you set as a leader. Your team is always taking cues from you whether you realize it or not. Show belonging. The way you greet people and make eye contact tells them if they matter and builds trust. Start strong. The first few minutes of any meeting set the energy for everything that follows. Respond wisely. In tense moments your reaction shapes how others think and feel. Calm creates clarity. Panic creates chaos. Be consistent. When people know what to expect from you they can focus on doing great work. Executive presence isn’t what you say. It’s the tone you set every single day. Follow for more leadership insights and share this with someone building their presence. #leadership #executivepresence #leadershipdevelopment #careergrowth #professionaldevelopment leadershiptips

Most people think promotions are about performance. But in corporate environments, status is built quietly — and lost quietly too. These are the office behaviors that instantly lower your status — even when you’re good at your job. And smart women learn to spot them early. ⸻ 1. Talking about how busy you are Senior people talk about priorities. Junior people talk about workload. The more you announce how overwhelmed you are, the less strategic you sound. ⸻ 2. Explaining yourself too much Confidence sounds simple. Over-explaining sounds unsure. Senior leaders assume they don’t need permission. ⸻ 3. Responding immediately to everything Being constantly available looks reactive. Not important. People with influence control their time. ⸻ 4. Oversharing personal frustrations Smart professionals build trust. They don’t vent emotionally at work. The moment you become “the one who complains,” your authority drops. ⸻ 5. Needing recognition out loud Influence grows when your work speaks. Not when you constantly remind people what you did. Senior people assume results will be noticed. ⸻ 6. Asking for permission instead of making recommendations Executives recommend. Juniors ask what to do. One sounds like leadership. One sounds like support. ⸻ 7. Trying to be liked by everyone Respect builds careers. Approval does not. The most effective people are warm — but not eager. ⸻ Most people never realize their behavior is lowering their status. They just wonder why they get passed over. If you’re paying attention, you’ll see these everywhere.

most people stay “entry-level” not because of skill… but because of mindset. this video shows the difference—basic moves keep you busy, while power moves get you promoted. if you want to play at an executive level, you can’t just work hard🥲 you have to think strategically, build visibility, and make sure the right people know your impact. this is the mindset shift I wish I made sooner! ❤️video format creds to @avnibarman_ (love her series, check it out if you haven’t!!!)

Impulse control is an executive function skill. With ADHD, executive function development runs about 2–3 years behind same-age peers, so reminding them to "just think before you act" isn't a reliable option in real time. When parents ask what can help their child become less impulsive, they are often recommended things like therapy, having discussions about "what you'll do differently next time", or consequences. That's not what develops impulse control. What helps is scaffolding: setting up home expectations and accountability in a way that matches their executive function skill level, rather than treating impulsivity as a character flaw or emotional issue. This video breaks down what actually moves impulse control and what doesn't. If you need help creating scaffolding and structure in the home, the ADHD Dude Parent Behavior Training programs, Capable & Confident for ages 4-7, Scaffolding Better Behavior for ages 8-17, and Executive Function Crash Course will provide you with step-by-step strategies. All are included with the ADHD Dude membership.
