A microscope reveals the hidden architecture of a microprocessor, exposing the silicon die where millions or even billions of transistors are arranged in intricate patterns. What appears from a distance as a simple chip is actually a dense network of microscopic circuits that process instructions, store data, and control the flow of signals across a device. At high magnification, the chip’s surface resembles a miniature city of geometric shapes and metallic lines. These structures represent logic gates, wiring layers, and transistor arrays that form the processor’s computational core. In some cases, microscopes can reveal individual transistor structures and connections measured in micrometers or nanometers. Researchers and engineers often expose the silicon die by removing the processor’s protective packaging, allowing microscopes to capture the complex layout of components such as arithmetic units, control circuitry, and memory blocks embedded within the chip. Under magnification, the technology that powers modern computers, smartphones, and data centers becomes visible as a layered landscape of silicon and metal engineered at an almost unimaginable scale. What does seeing the hidden architecture of a microprocessor change about how you think of everyday technology? Give us your thoughts below - #tech #zoom #processor #posthuman

🇬🇧 I’ve made a new video on this processor. Longer and slower, as I’ve often been asked. I found this vintage processor INTEL 386 DX-33 to be perfectly functional. As the chip is enclosed in a ceramic housing, it is easy to access using a heat gun to remove the protective plate. The Intel 80386 is a 32-bit CISC microprocessor. It is used in many personal computers from 1986 to 1994. Created and built by Intel, the 80386 processor was completed in October 1985. The first working chips were delivered to the public in 1986. This processor represents a significant evolution of the x86 family, which began with the Intel 8086. Indeed, it introduces a new 32-bit processor architecture. Frequency 12 MHz to 40 MHz Engraving fineness 1.5 µm to 1 µm 🇫🇷 j’ai refais une nouvelle vidéo sur ce processeur. Plus long et moins rapide comme on me l’a souvent demandé. J’ai trouvé cet ancien processeur INTEL 386 DX-33 parfaitement fonctionnel. Every computer starts with sand. That sand becomes silicon — purified, sliced into wafers, and etched with billions of microscopic transistors. Engineers then use light, chemicals, and precision lasers to “print” circuits smaller than a virus. Each finished wafer holds hundreds of CPUs, each capable of running billions of calculations per second. It’s not built like a machine — it’s grown like life. Welcome to the art of making a mind from matter. 🧠⚙️
