He’s learning how to control the swing with his hands, not chase it with his body. We started with a 5lb plate just exaggerating that forward move — no casting, no wrapping. Then switched to a sawed-off handle so he can feel that same attack without the weight. Last round he opens up his stance on purpose — forces the hands to work first and keeps the barrel tight and behind him. Once that sequence clicks, it’s just low hard line drives all day. So many youth players swing with just their arms…so I Make sure to kill that thought before we even swing the bat. Here we are accomplishing the “SWING SEQUENCE” which my players know to be: 1️⃣ hips 2️⃣ hands 3️⃣ barrel Here we are really emphasizing leading with our hip rotation. Our hips control the center mass of our body. After we rotate from there, we feel a pull in our upper body. That is when we fire the hands and the barrel.
