Procrastination isn’t just about putting things off—it’s about the constant battle between wanting to get things done and struggling to start. 🧠 With ADHD, it’s not laziness; it’s a brain that needs a little extra spark to kick into gear. Whether it’s time blindness, task overwhelm, or difficulty prioritizing, procrastination is more than just ‘waiting until the last minute’ for us. #ADHDAwarenessMonth #ADHDAwareness #ADHD #ADHDBrain #ADHDLife #ADHDAdult #ADHDLifeBeLike #ADHDBrainBeLike #ADHDCommunity

ADHDers: Ever had something you were genuinely excited to do — and still… you just couldn’t start? That’s not laziness. That’s executive dysfunction. ADHD brains often want to do the thing, and still hit a wall when it comes to actually starting. Motivation exists, but it’s stuck behind time blindness, unclear steps, internal pressure, or a nervous system that hasn’t gotten the green light yet. What helps: ✔️ Break it down even more — like “open the file,” not “write the thing” ✔️ Time-box it (10–20 minutes is enough to create momentum) ✔️ Pair it with dopamine — music, snacks, a cozy setting ✔️ Use a body double or co-working session ✔️ Say it out loud: “This is exciting and hard to start” — both can be true 💬 What’s something you were excited to do… and still procrastinated like hell? Drop it below — you’re not alone in this. #ADHDCoach #AdultADHD #ExecutiveFunction #ADHDRealLife #ADHDStrategies #TaskInitiation #ADHDMotivation #NeurodivergentLife

Ever notice how you only start getting ready once you’re already late? 😬 That “last-minute energy” isn’t magic — it’s dopamine. Your ADHD brain needs stimulation to focus, and urgency gives it that instant hit. So instead of waiting for panic to kick in, create mini urgency on purpose. 💡 Try this: – Set a 10-minute timer and challenge yourself to “beat the clock.” – Add a fun consequence or reward — something that makes it feel like a game, not a chore. – Break tasks into tiny wins so your brain gets quick hits of progress (that’s dopamine too). You don’t need stress to focus — you just need the right kind of spark. My original caption from TikTok 7/31/25 ❤️: This was super hard to do in the moment even though it looks easy. This is an older video, l still refer back to it, to remind myself that I CAN do hard things 😭 I have to use a lot of coping skills because it is a stress response, it is NOT about laziness. Im sure if you were watching me from the outside, it might have looked like I was relaxing out on my deck for 2 hours. But inside I was anything but relaxed, I was mentally beating myself to a pulp. The only way I truly felt better was when I finished the really daunting task IMPERFECTLY. It’s never going to be perfect, nothing is ever perfect. #procrastination #taskparalysis #overwelmed #MentalHealth #adhd #executivedysfunction
