The labels you give yourself can limit you, holding you back from realizing what you’re capable of. When you label yourself, you’re convincing your mind that these traits are fixed and unchangeable. You’re identifying with them, telling yourself that that’s just WHO YOU ARE… and that can reinforce a deeply held belief that you will ALWAYS be that way. But that’s incorrect. Simply changing how we speak to ourselves (and others) when referring to our abilities can change how we see ourselves, which changes how we feel, and what we do. It’s the basic cognitive model of behavior. Cognitions (or thoughts) influence how we feel (the ‘affective’ component) which changes what we do. So, start reframing that internal narrative. ❌ “I’m terrible at this.” ✅ “I’m committed to learning and improving.” ❌ “I’m such a procrastinator.” ✅ “I’m working on overcoming my procrastination habit.” ❌ “I’m a really bad public speaker” ✅ “I’m not a great public speaker yet – I’ll practice until I gain confidence.” ❌ “I’m so socially awkward” ✅ “I’m gradually stepping out of my comfort zone to improve my social skills.” By doing this, you open yourself to growth and demonstrate to yourself (and others) that you’re capable of change. Simple tweak, powerful impact. Have you every used labels like any of the above? Let me know in the comments. 👇 #labels #limits #selflimitingbeliefs #selflimits #procrastination #procrastinator #selfimposedlimitations #selfconstraint #confident #confidence #cognitivereframing #cognitivereframe

I have a confession to make... Sometimes I use planning as a way to procrastinate the things I really don’t want to do 😬 If there’s something on the horizon and I’m not really thrilled about it, I find myself moving it back over and over until there’s little to no time left. Have you ever done this? My guess is that you have. It’s such a sneaky way to procrastinate that it almost doesn’t feel like procrastination at all. But the hard truth is that it still is 🫠 I’m going to be sharing my thoughts on procrastination over the next couple of days because I’ve seen a lot of questions popping up on this topic. If you are a serial procrastinator or you’re like me and you’re a procrastinator in recovery, drop your questions or roadblocks in the comments below and I’ll make sure to address them in an upcoming post! #worklifeharmony #thepinkbee #worklifebalance #busymama #motherhoodsimplified #plannergeek #worksmart #plannermom #productiveday #productivitytips #planningcommunity #overwhelmed #burnoutrecovery #stressmanagement #mompreneur #momsinbusiness #bossmomlife #procrastinating #procrastinator

Ever wondered why you keep putting those things off? 👀 When we put things off, it’s often because the task triggers discomfort — anxiety, fear of failure, perfectionism, or even boredom — and our brain tries to protect us by avoiding that negative feeling in the moment. It’s a short-term coping mechanism, not a character flaw. In fact, brain imaging studies have found that procrastinators show stronger connections between the amygdala (which processes emotion and threat) and the anterior cingulate cortex (which manages conflict). That means our brains literally experience certain tasks as emotionally risky. So when someone procrastinates, they’re not being lazy (!!!) they’re trying to self-soothe. The irony, of course, is that avoidance tends to make the stress worse later, creating a guilt spiral that reinforces the very emotions we were trying to avoid. So instead of asking, “Why am I lazy?” the better question might be, “What emotion am I avoiding right now?” When we can name the fear underneath the delay, whether it’s embarrassment, overwhelm, or uncertainty, we can meet it with compassion rather than shame. Because procrastination isn’t a failure of discipline; it’s a signal from your nervous system saying, something about this feels hard to face right now. #womeninfinance #mentalhealth #procrastinating #personalfinanceforwomen #procrastinator
