i love organising my annotating supplies 🫶🏼 it makes me feel more motivated to annotate my books while reading, plus i love looking at all the colors together 🥹✨ i seriously had so much fun annotating “alone with you in the ether”, especially with these gorgeous new highlighters from @gomr.pen 🤍 would you annotate a book like this, or do you prefer using post-it notes/notebooks/pencil? 🤓

How I Annotate My Book!! [A GUIDE<3] One of the most common questions I get on this account is my annotating process. How I developed it? What I write? Supplies etc. So I decided to finally compile a little guide. Let me know if this helps 🤗 [Tabbing:] 🗂️ I like to generally use 6 diff colours to tab. If I go above six it becomes hard to keep track and makes things tedious! 🗂️ I have a “tab key” put in the beginning of the book for future reference. 🗂️ I decide on themes I tab as I go— usually designating certain concept or patterns that comes up again and again within the story. 🗂️ Examples include: motifs, character development, certain emotions, relationships, beautifully written passages etc (the list goes on! You can literally tab whatever comes up a bunch) [Underlining/Highlighting/Emphasis of Text] ✍️ I underline passages or lines of text that are essential to the ‘literary’ aspect of the book, this could be: use of a symbol, an extended metaphor, juxtaposition etc ✍️ I highlight passages or lines of text that evoke me to feel (Don’t be excessive. Highlight the parts that stand out!) ✍️ circle/square/bracket (basically emphasize) important diction, keywords, or phrases related to the theme you had tabbed that passage to! [Writing!!!] 🖍️Write down: thoughts, wonders, predictions, feelings, essential details, connections, questions, analysis!! 🖍️ Where? If it’s especially long use a sticky, otherwise, the margins, the spaces, and in between lines. Literally anywhere. 🖍️if you’re afraid to damage your book sticky notes are very helpful:) and there are clear/neutral coloured sticky notes that are quite lovely 😊 🖍️use: arrows, bullet points, numbering, icons, or whatever that may clarify your annotations. 🖍️Reminder: I only write in annotations after finishing a chapter in the parts where I’ve tabbed, this keeps my reading flowing :) [Supplies] 📂I usually use gel black pens in 0.3 (I like the thinner feel and they often don’t leak through the page) 📂I use the grey highlighters from muji religiously 📂Stickies and tabs are all from Amazon, they come in a variety of colours so have your pick:)! Love, Bea

Annotating✨ Annotating has my heart and I don’t think that will ever change. This is a book I annotated years ago, so the style has changed, but I still thought it was fun. QOTD: do you have any annotating content you would like to see? Or how was your weekend?

This is how I start my annotating🤭 Before I start marking a book up I do these steps first: ✨ I do a smidge of research on what the themes are in the book so I can decide my tab categories ✨Start assigning colors of tabs with the vibe of the category lol ✨ I post it my tabs on the first title page and start labeling them by category (so I don’t forget my categories to colors) ✨I’ve toned down my amount of categories though, the tabs got CRAZY LOL I usually do 3 only now!! Prior to this though, I buy highlighters and pens that don’t bleed through, SUPER IMPORTANT! I love tabbing because I personally feel like I’m soaking in all the content and not just blowing through a book without getting to absorb all of it🥹👉🏽👈🏽 hope this helps yall who feel like you don’t know where to start! • • • • • #book #booktok #booksbooksbooks #bookreader #bookstagrammer #capcut #booklover #booklovers #read #tbr #bookstagram #bookreview #bookish #reel

my MOST requested video since starting my Hunger Games journey.. so I had to DELIVUHHHH🖤I’m also down to answer more specific questions if you have any, so don’t be shyyyy remember: this is YOUR experience with YOUR books so do YOU!!!! 🫶🏾🥰 LOVE YOU #bookstagram

I tried annotating for the first time and I get the appeal now. I was inspired by @thebookleo's video on how annotating can help to replace your doomscrolling and although it only helped me with that marginally, what I did learn from the video was that annotating is truly about the journey and not the destination. Even if I were to never look back on what I wrote and what tabs I left, I still feel like the actual process elevated the reading experience for me. Am I annotating the books I'm currently reading (The Strength of the Few and Howling Dark)? Not really. 😂 BUT, I think for certain books, such as ones that are more speculative, I'll definitely be pulling out my tabs and pen. ❓QOTD: Do you annotate or tab your books while you read?
