HOW TO ANNOTATE IN YOUR BOOKS⭐️📖🖊️ annotating is one of my fav ways of making my books my own <3 HAPPY ANNOTATING!!!!! • • • #annotations #annotation #annotatedbooks #annotating #reading

I tried annotating for the first time and I get the appeal now. I was inspired by @thebookleo's video on how annotating can help to replace your doomscrolling and although it only helped me with that marginally, what I did learn from the video was that annotating is truly about the journey and not the destination. Even if I were to never look back on what I wrote and what tabs I left, I still feel like the actual process elevated the reading experience for me. Am I annotating the books I'm currently reading (The Strength of the Few and Howling Dark)? Not really. 😂 BUT, I think for certain books, such as ones that are more speculative, I'll definitely be pulling out my tabs and pen. ❓QOTD: Do you annotate or tab your books while you read?

Want to know the best secret for starting your annotation journey? Doesn't matter if it's fiction or nonfiction books: 🎨 Start with ONE color tab One pencil mark, one pen mark, one tab counts as annotation. 🙌 You don't have to have a rainbow running down the fore-edge of the book 😆 (Yes, that's the technical term for the opposit of the spine). If you want to start annotating, the easiest thing you can do is take ONE color tab. 👉 Put it anywhere you feel happy reading that book. You don't even have to think of multiple emotions, characters, plot devices, etc. Just put it where you feel happy reading that book. ♥️ When you're done, you'll see the spread of tabs and feel accomplished, proud, and so excited to take the next step in your annotation journey. Save this and stay tuned for more annotation tips! So far, I've planned at least 6 parts so far. annotate your books✨🖊️📚 ✨what is annotating? annotating is an interactive way of reading a book through taking notes. there are multiple reasons why you might enjoy it, personally i find it to be a more fun, engaging way of reading . I am able to dissect the world, characters, and storyline so much more. ✒️supplies? - colorful tabs - highlighters all supplies are optional. if you only have a pen for notes - that’s fine! if you’re not into writing directly on the book, consider using a journal, sticky notes, or clear tabs. 📚what do i annotate? WHATEVER you want. look up annotation guides, and build your own! you can follow specific characters, emotions, or a mixture. whatever feels right for you. personally, i love finding parallels, theories, and documenting my reactions. ❤️MOST IMPORTANTLY… the internet is full of haters. “you’re destroying your book” “writing LOL isn’t annotating” “you can’t annotate without these highlighters” blah blah blah. do what makes you feel good, and what helps you retain the story best. stay away from people who don’t get it. do you annotate? 🖊️ #books#bookstagram#read#reading#sjm#rebeccayarros#author#writing#draw#annotate#annotating#annotation#annotatedbooks#tog#acotar#throneofglass#fourthwing#ironflame#book#read#recommendations#blog#outdoor#adventure#travel#explore

✍️ Things I Wish I Knew Before Annotating Books 📚 New to annotating? Here are 6 tips I wish someone told me before I started marking up my books: 1. You don’t need an aesthetic annotation system- just start. It evolves with you. 2. Use pencil if you’re afraid to commit. You can always go over it later. 3. Messy annotations are still powerful. It’s about connection, not perfection. 4. Write your reactions in the margin- future you will thank you. 5. Color-code only if it helps (not because Pinterest said so). 6. You’re allowed to “ruin” your books. They’re meant to be lived in. If you’re into annotating books, active reading, journaling, or studying, save this for later! 🧠 Whether you’re reading fiction, nonfiction, or classics- annotating can deepen your comprehension, boost retention, and make reading more engaging. 💬 What’s your favorite annotation tip or method? — #howtoannotate #annotatingbooks #bookannotationtips #readingtips #activenotetaking #studytok #booktok #aestheticreading #bookaesthetic #studyinspo #darkacademiaaesthetic #readersofinstagram #readinghabits #annotatedreads #annotatingforbeginners #booknotes #readerlife #fyp #explorepage #reels #explorepage✨ #reelsinstagram #tiktok #trending #viral #reelsviral #reels #fypシ #reelitfeelit [annotating books, annotation tips, how to annotate, annotating for beginners, book annotation guide, reading tips, reading habits, active reading strategies, how to take notes while reading, improve reading comprehension, reading retention, reading productivity, aesthetic annotation, book aesthetic, dark academia aesthetic, cozy reading vibes, aesthetic book notes, book journaling, reading setup, reading community, annotated reads, book notes, bookish content]

How I Annotate My Book!! [A GUIDE<3] One of the most common questions I get on this account is my annotating process. How I developed it? What I write? Supplies etc. So I decided to finally compile a little guide. Let me know if this helps 🤗 [Tabbing:] 🗂️ I like to generally use 6 diff colours to tab. If I go above six it becomes hard to keep track and makes things tedious! 🗂️ I have a “tab key” put in the beginning of the book for future reference. 🗂️ I decide on themes I tab as I go— usually designating certain concept or patterns that comes up again and again within the story. 🗂️ Examples include: motifs, character development, certain emotions, relationships, beautifully written passages etc (the list goes on! You can literally tab whatever comes up a bunch) [Underlining/Highlighting/Emphasis of Text] ✍️ I underline passages or lines of text that are essential to the ‘literary’ aspect of the book, this could be: use of a symbol, an extended metaphor, juxtaposition etc ✍️ I highlight passages or lines of text that evoke me to feel (Don’t be excessive. Highlight the parts that stand out!) ✍️ circle/square/bracket (basically emphasize) important diction, keywords, or phrases related to the theme you had tabbed that passage to! [Writing!!!] 🖍️Write down: thoughts, wonders, predictions, feelings, essential details, connections, questions, analysis!! 🖍️ Where? If it’s especially long use a sticky, otherwise, the margins, the spaces, and in between lines. Literally anywhere. 🖍️if you’re afraid to damage your book sticky notes are very helpful:) and there are clear/neutral coloured sticky notes that are quite lovely 😊 🖍️use: arrows, bullet points, numbering, icons, or whatever that may clarify your annotations. 🖍️Reminder: I only write in annotations after finishing a chapter in the parts where I’ve tabbed, this keeps my reading flowing :) [Supplies] 📂I usually use gel black pens in 0.3 (I like the thinner feel and they often don’t leak through the page) 📂I use the grey highlighters from muji religiously 📂Stickies and tabs are all from Amazon, they come in a variety of colours so have your pick:)! Love, Bea
